To mark my triumphant return from the beach, Shiro and Alex do the bext friend thing after watching sumo. Topics include Leyu, pizza, and Lorna. Much cuteness abounds.

Shiro led Alex out the stadium where they had just watched a series sumo wrestling matches. He'd been to sumo before and was not particularly impressed by today's displays, but he knew that Alex had enjoyed it, and that brought a small smile to his face.

Alex was all smiles. Sure he'd heard of sumo wrestling, especially in jokes, but he didn't realize it was so awesome in person. "Shiro that was awesome!" then he turned and gave Shiro a small blank look. "Now, explain to me what we just saw?"

"A bunch of men with glandular disorders trying to knock each other out of a ring," Shiro said, trying not to laugh at his friend. "Fat men smacking each other. It's actually a very holy act, believe it or not. Sumo is not just for our amusement, it serves a religious purpose as well. What that purpose is, I have never quite understood. Onee-san would know."

"So it's religious huh?" Alex raised an eyebrow grinning. "Figures. If it makes no sense, it's usually for religious purposes. I'm glad it's that simple, I was afraid I was missing something."

"Missing something? Hardly. Sumo is fat men pushing each other around. Fun to watch, certainly, but not really intellectually stimulating." As they left the compound, Shiro turned left, intent on grabbing a quick bite to eat at a nearby pizzeria (as a treat to Alex, since he'd been on an almost total Japanese diet since they arrived a couple of weeks ago).

"Yeah well, they could have been screaming god knows what on that loud speaker and I would have been totally lost. Just glad in fact I didn't miss anything. Us blonds tend to do that." He stuck his tongue out as he made fun of himself. "So, where we heading now?"

"Food, because your gut won't stop rumbling," Shiro teased, poking Alex in the belly. He chuckled at Alex's squirm. "So how have you been enjoying Tokyo? I know you didn't like the Sword Museum, but you and Leyu-chan seemed to have had a lot of fun at Disneyland . . ." He inwardly shuddered at the thought of that resort.

Alex dodged playfully away at the poke and rubbed his belly tenderly. "I'm a growing boy damn it!" He laughed then matched his step to Shiro's, giggling at his shudder. "This city is totally awesome. And the Sword museum wasn't that bad...Alright so it was boring, but some of them were really cool! And come on, I still can't believe you don't like Disneyland. Everyone loves Disney! Plus your sister is a real sweetie so of course we had fun, even if you were a sour puss the entire time." It was his turn to poke Shiro playfully in the ribs with his elbow.

"Do you ever breathe?" Shiro asked, amazed that Alex could speak so quickly and enthusiastically. "And no, not everyone loves animated mice and ducks and retarded dogs. Leyu-chan just doesn't have any taste. For example, she has a crush on you," he teased, unable to resist.

"Yeah well, it a bad habit us Americans pick up..." He paused in his happy babbled at Shiro's last quip. "She what?"

Shiro stopped when he noticed Alex wasn't following him anymore. The blank look on Alex's face was priceless, Shiro thought. "My little sister thinks that you are attractive. You haven't realized that? It does not take a telepath to see it."
Alex frowned. "But she's a kid. How can she...? What does she...?" His own questions were confusing him. Then he gave Shiro another blank look. "She really has a crush on me?"

Clapping a hand on Alex's shoulder, Shiro laughed and led his friend forward. He was hungry too and didn't want to stand around in the middle of the sidewalk discussing this. "You must be blind, my friend, if you have not seen it. Didn't you see how she was dragging you everywhere at Disneyland? She was holding your hand almost the entire time. And whenever we had to make a decision, it was always, 'What does Alex-san think we should do?'"

Alex suddenly burst out laughing, at both his blindness and how amusing the situation was. "Wow, your right...I can't believe I didn't see it. I hope I didn't encourage her." He grinned playfully. "I'm sure Lorna would be angry if I flirted with another woman while out of her sight."

"If Ms. Dane is jealous of a nine year-old, then I suggest she have a good long talk with Dr. Samson." They turned the corner and entered the pizzeria. It looked like any pizza place one could find in Manhattan, except for all the Japanese. Shiro fished out his wallet and took out a few coins. "My sister has it bad for you. I think it's the hair. Maybe if you dyed it . . ."

"Hey now...no one touches the hair. It's bad enough that Lorna wants to cut it all the time." He self consciously ran a hand through his hair. He waited while Shiro ordered the pizza and they sat down in a booth. "So what are we going to do about your sister? I'd hate to make her suddenly hate me when she finds out I'm taken."

"Not to worry. I don't think that she would hate you." He put the change back in his pocket before he took a seat, and brushed his hair away from his face. "She would hate Ms. Dane and try to steal you from her. Which is actually something that I would not mind witnessing."

Alex giggled. "As bad as it sounds, me too. Your sister fighting with my girlfriend for my attention. It sounds like a bad romance novel."

Shiro sighed dramatically. "Alas, it would be an expected occurrence at Xavier's Madhouse." The man behind the counter called Shiro, and he excused himself momentarily to get the pizza and bring it back to the table. "You know, this would not be so amusing if my Leyu-chan weren't a child."

Alex rolled his eyes. "I know, then I really would have a problem." He crossed his arms on the table and buried his head. "Coming home is going to be real interesting..."

"There there." Shiro patted Alex's head, and then took a slice of pizza and started eating. "Hopefully, Ms. Dane will just be terribly amused that you managed to get a little girl to fall for you, ne?"

"For your sister's sake, I hope so. Lorna's become very protective recently. It's scary and enduring at the same time." He rolled his eyes and took a slice of pizza. "Though your sister is pretty cute for a kid."

That comment earned a glare; Shiro's previous amusement faded instantly, to be replaced by protective older brother syndrome. "You touch her, Alex . . ." Not that he would, of course, since Alex had more sense than that. But it was worth mentioning.

Alex raised his head in defense hearing the change in Shiro's tone. "Hey now! I mean cute like Miles cute, not Lorna cute! Geez, I wouldn't dream of touching your sister!..." He mumbled something after it, "I haven't even touched Lorna that way..." then he stuffed his mouth full of pizza goodness.

"Good." Silence reigned for a couple of minutes as the two at their pizza. But then something dawned on Shiro. "Wait. You and Ms. Dane haven't . . .?" That was new. "But you two have been a couple for so long."

Alex blushed about the shade of the tomato sauce, "i know, I know...It's never actually come up. I mean, the first time I was even in her room at night was while you guys were trapped in that faerie place."

"Well, if you don't mind my asking, why?" Shiro had to admit that Lorna was very attractive (there's something about green hair), so it made no sense in his 17-year-old male mind.

"I...Umm...we...I don't know really." Alex blushed and refused to look up from his pizza. "I think it's because we both have serious mental issues and well,,, it would only make it worse. And that's my best guess mind you...I really don't know..."

"Granted, I'm hardly an expert on the subject," since the only experience he had was with the possessed, "But maybe you should ask her? Or speak with Doctor Samson? Because honestly, Alex, and I tell you this as a friend: your girlfriend is beautiful. We should all be so lucky to find someone like that."

Alex shoved his food away and buried his head in his hands. "Trust me, I know. I still can't believe she loves me and how lucky I am...But there's more then that Shiro...so much more then looks and luck. I think we're still just trying to get by that and me blowing her up certainly didn't help..."

Shiro wiped his hands on a napkin before reaching forward to lay it on Alex's hand. "I understand. But your explosion was half a year ago, so it's time that you moved on from that. You love each other, you trust each other, you understand each other." Shiro took his hand back and looked at Alex intently.

"I trust her so much Shiro...I'm just afraid..."he closed his eyes and sighed, remembering his nightmares.

"I wish I had better advice," Shiro admitted, looking down at the pizza crust on his plate. He didn't like seeing his friend like this; Alex should be happy, not frightened. "Let's change the subject, ne? Something more cheerful."

Looking up through his bangs, Alex nodded. "Yeah...so ummm..." He sat up a bit and played with the crust of a slice of pizza left uneaten on his plate. "What else do you have planned for this vacation?"

"We haven't gone to the Toshimaen amusement park yet," Shiro said between bites of yet another slice. "Let's go tomorrow. I do hope you like roller coasters." He grinned, hoping to lift the mood and cheer up Alex.

That did perk Alex up a bit, enough that he gave his friend a small smile and began to eat the slice had been picking at. "Dude, I love roller coasters...though nothing beats a perfect tube wave...."

"Good. Now finish up your pizza so we can regurgitate it tomorrow morning."

*snicker* This was fun. Although I think about half the mansion would be wondering who replaced Shiro with the cheerful android double right about now. :)

I blame Shiro. I mean, wouldn't -you- be cranky about SUnpyre if she was your sister?
