Ask for exposition...

Kitty comes dashing through the door of the kitchen. When she spots Alison she comes to a screeching halt.
"Alison!" She looks really upset and is gasping for breath. "Alison! I finally cracked the code and found out what was in those files."
"Files? Kitty, what files?" is the puzzled rejoinder, as Alison stared at the younger girl in concern.
"The ones Dr. Essex led me to. They were locked up on a government server and really heavily encrypted, took me ages to bust the code. But that's not important."
"I found out what they're working on," she continues. "Monstrous robots with special programming that lets them hunt down mutants for 'the promotion of social safety.' Nasty things, looks like they've got detainment subroutines, but I'd swear that the primary programming is search and destroy." She's shaking. "And I don't know what to do! Practically everyone's gone and... and..." She trails off, not wanting to say why she hasn't brought this information to Storm or Betsy. "Please, do you have any way of getting in touch with Mr. Summers? Surely you've got access to the com system? Is he reachable? Or do you think we should see if the Professor..." Again she trails off, not sure what Professor X would say to this at all, if anything.
Reaching out to lay one hand reassuringly on Kitty's shoulder, Alison quickly sorts through the options. There's only one conclusion to reach really, although a few other options could be approached as well… trailing off in her thought process, Alison winces faintly, and promises herself never to let Lorna know exactly how much Scott's training has influenced her. "We'd better go see the Professor now, kiddo," she says gently, leading Kitty towards the hallway. "He'll probably want to see all the information you got, after you've spoken to him, so you might be busy for a bit putting that together. I'm sure you'll be excused from your classes if needed. I'll also make sure Scott and Ororo know about this. I'll send something to Scott via the drop box, and if we can't find Ororo on our way to the Professor, I'll hunt her down straight afterwards or email her, all right?"
Kitty nods, biting her lip. "That's a good idea, yeah. But, um... Can you not mention to Storm where I got it? Or, like, not mention it exactly. It's... it's not exactly legal, what I did." She stares at the ground.
Alison's lips quirk at that, but nothing more. "Kitty, hon… right now if even half of the information you found is accurate, I really don't think it'll be an issue for a while. I'd suggest you mention it to the Professor though - he'll need to know anyway, and odds are he'll probably want to see where and how you got those files. Just in case there's more we ought to know. Or if there's a lead that could be followed from there about the people behind this all…" As they walk up the stairs, she slips an arm around Kitty's shoulders. "What you found is important, Kitty," she lets out a breath, worry gnawing at the pit of her stomach as the implications keep unfolding, each nastier than the other. "The Professor and the others will know what to do."
Kitty nods, looking reassured. "I think the Professor will understand," she says, thinking of her first 'mission' to steal documents. "I just... Storm seems..." Her lips thin as she searches for a way to say what she means. "I just don't think Storm would approve," she finally settles on.
There'll only be one way to find that one out, Kitty," the blonde points out quietly, as they near the Professor's office. "And sometimes things aren't as black or white as we might think they are," she chuckles at using that particular expression. "Ororo might surprise you on this one." She reaches up to knock on the Professor's door, and waits for him to respond.
