Before this log Alex is giving his back a break from dancing with Leyu, who is off to bother her brother. Angelo comes over and they talk about the cuteness of little kids. These two are finally on thier way to being friends again.
Leyu was exciteded the entire night, which made Alex smile despite himself. They had just finished thier third dance and Alex's back was killing him. He kneeled down next to his 'date' and whispered in her ear, "Hey Leyu, go ask your brother to dance. Five bucks says he blushes." The little girl giggled and glady accepted the bet, running off to find her unsuspecting brother. Laughing slightly and shaking his head, Alex moved off the dance floor and went over to the side to get something to drink. Leaning against the wall, his eyes roamed the crowd, catching unconsiously on a head of green, catching his attention so much he didn't notice he had company.
Angelo had wandered up when he saw Leyu run off, watching her go with amusement. "Where'd you send the munchkin?" he asked curiously, leaning against the wall next to Alex.
Alex blinked in surprise when Angelo spoke then turned, giving him a small smile as if nothing was wrong. "She's off to embarass her brother. I'm not letting Shiro get off scott free here."
Angelo chuckled. "What's she gonna do?"
"Insist she dance with him. I told her I'd give her five bucks if she gets him to blush, though I know she'd do it anyway. We are mean to Shiro like that."
Angelo grinned over at him, amused. "Gives you a break from havin' to bend down to dance, too."
Alex shook his head, groaning slightly. "No kidding, though I would hate to dissapoint her. She does still have that huge crush on me and she is my best friend's little sister. I can live with alittle pain."
"She's a sweet kid", Angelo commented idly. "Think you had the right idea with that codename for her, though. Does she ever stop?"
"Codename?" Alex thought a moment then nodded. "Oh right! The comments that started our little pillow war. Yeah it definatly fits. I'm here, isn't that proof enough of her sweetness?"
Angelo laughed. "How long did it take her to convince you?"
Alex rolled his eyes. "I agreeed on the spot." He mumbled it, slightly embrassed. "You don't know man, that little kid is hard to reisist!"
"All little kids are", Angelo agreed equably. "You ever tried to hold out on lettin' Miles have somethin' he wants?"
"After what that kid did for Scott, I'd give that little kid anything in the world" Alex had a small smile on his face as he thought back to the sunset. Then he shook his head. "Cute kids have a way of making you do things you really don't want to do..."
Angelo looked curious. "Yeah? What'd he do?"
Alex looked around then spoke softly. "He let Scott see the sunset...I mean really see, no glasses, no visors no nothing. Then Miles even let Scott share it again with me...You have no idea what that meant, I got to see my brother just the way I remembered him..." Alex smiled softly, looking down. "I would do anything for that kid after that. His heart is just...so giving yeah know?"
Angelo nodded. "Yeah, I know. Bet it was all his idea, too. He's good like that."
"It was. He thought of it and everything apparently." Alex shook his head and in the process caught Brent and Lorna in the corner of his eye. He frowned slightly, then caughter his falter and smiled, though not as sincerely this time.
Angelo noticed the frown, and glanced over that way. Ah "You okay, man?"
"No." Alex blurted out. He closed his eyes to compose himself a moment. "Just reminded why I don't want to be here."
Angelo winced, not sure what to say, and ended up just keeping his silence, reaching out to squeeze Alex's shoulder sympathetically.
Alex gave him a look that showed his thanks. "Look I'm probably keeping you from Paige. You want to be here, go have fun..."
"You sure?" Angelo asked, not wanting to leave Alex unhappy like this, though he would if the other boy insisted.
Alex raised an eyebrow at Angelo. "Look I don't wanna ruin anyone's evening...except Brent's but then again, since Lorna doesn't want to see me, that's not gonna happen. I don't wanna ruin your evening with Piage so go have fun man." Alex tried for a smile and half way succeeded. "Don't worry about me bro..."
Angelo nodded, not convinced but knowing Shiro and Leyu would do something between them to make sure Alex wasn't too miserable. "Okay then. I'll be around."
After giving Angelo a thankful slap on the shoulder, Alex nodded toward the party. "Alright man, and look...we share a suite now, which is kind of like roommates again...I'd love it if ya know, we could be friends again. Don't be a stranger, alright?" Alex tapped his shoulder again, as if hadn't just gotten borderline mushy. "Now go find your girl and have some fun."
Angelo nodded. "Yeah, I'd like that. Catch you in the rec room sometime soon, or maybe I'll come by your room." He chuckled as he turned, scanning the crowd for Paige. "Try an' have some fun yourself, okay?" he shot over his shoulder as he spotted her and moved off.
Alex nodded to Angelo a smile on his face, but the moment Angelo had turned his back, the smile was gone. "Yeah...right." He said softly before taking a sip of his drink.
