Backdated to Sunday night. Nathan and Moira make a decision about sharing some good news.

He woke up, for the first time in days, smiling. That was because
there was a familiar warm shape nestled against him, accompanied by a
familiar scent of heather. Nathan reached out tentatively, sliding his
arm around Moira, realizing from the texture of the fabric his fingers
contacted that she was still fully clothed. Had she just come up here
and crashed next to him?

The shifting shook her out of the light sleep Moira had fallen into and
she growled, swatting at whatever had just woken her up. It hadn't been
all that long ago since she had stumbled up from the MedLab after
running more tests on Cain.

"Don't hit me," Nathan murmured in his damaged voice. "I might break."
A faint smile tugged at his lips as he heard the growl turn into a
questioning noise.

"Please. Would take more than tha'," she muttered, not bothering to
open her eyes just yet. She did smile, though, as Nathan's had came to
rest against her stomach. "Be a while before we can actually feel
anythin'."

"I know. Just imagining..." He took a cautious deep breath; the
wheezing edge to his breathing was still there, but the urge to cough
was weak, able to be ignored. "Think my TK's really kicking back in.
And I can..." He paused, the smile growing. "I can feel you," he
murmured, paying close attention to the little flicker of warmth in
his mind. "Just a little."

The smile on Moira's face brightened as she felt that familiar sensation
in the back of her mind. Just a little, but it was still there. "Oh
good," she breathed, finally opening her eyes so she could lean and kiss
him on the cheek. "'bout bloody time."

The realization that yes, the link was still there, made him relax,
almost fully, for the first time since Cain and Alison's accident.
Charles had assured him it would be, that his powers would return
fully, but there had been moments, with the fever from the virus
raging and nothing but emptiness in his mind, that he'd found it very
difficult to believe. "Tell me about it," he said with a very careful
chuckle that still turned into a stifled cough.

"See? Told ye it would come back." Carefully, Moira looped an arm
around his waist and then busied herself with kicking off her shoes.
"This whole week's been a bloody mess."

"Getting better, though," Nathan murmured comfortingly. "All of it...
all of us." She settled back down against him, and he sighed. "How
long until you feel okay leaving Cain? Feel selfish to ask, but..." He
wanted Muir. So very badly. It had been the light at the end of the
tunnel for the last couple of months, and now...

She bit her lip and squelched the guilt that rose up at how much she
wanted home. "Nay sure...'e woke up, which is a good sign. An'
considerin' 'is size, I think movin' 'im back ta 'is 'ouse is a good
idea. So...original date is still out there. We need ta get a move on
invitin' people over."

"So, sometime this week..." Nathan sighed, shifting closer to her.
"Amanda was helping me today," he said suddenly. "Reading my exams to
me. I might get them all done after all."

"Awww, yer students will be so disappointed," she teased. "'opin' ta ge
a out o' exams free card, I think. 'Couldnae do me exam...me teacher is
blind'?"

"Well, Scott took care of that. Had the exams held as scheduled and
all... I owe him big-time for that." Nathan leaned forward a little,
kissing the top of her head. With her this close, he wasn't going to
miss or be awkward, at least. "Might be a little awkward next term if
I'm not seeing again by then, though."

"Ye'll be jus' fine next semester." Moira's voice was firm. Even if it
did not heal naturally, they would find _some_ way of fixing it. "Ye'll
be seein' again in nay time."

He knew that voice. That was her 'this is the way it will be because I
SAY so' voice. She'd used it on him often enough for him to know just
how often she was right, too. "Suppose it won't hurt me to take it
easy for a while anyway," he conceded. "Even if it's an enforced
taking-it-easy..." He trailed off for a moment, then smiled again.

"So," he said very gravely. "What do you think of tomorrow?
For the great announcement..."

"Restin' is good. Keeps ye out o' th' Medlab, at least." She hurmed
and then beamed, resting her head on her shoulder. "Lovely. We can
make th' invitation in th' same go, can't we? Make it all so much
easier on us. Cannae tell 'ow th' mansion is goin' ta react. Should be
amusin', at least."

"Amanda first, though," Nathan said after a moment. "Invite her to
breakfast?" They would really have to stress to her that the baby
didn't mean that anything was going to change between the three of
them.

"Mmm, good idea. She likes yer breakfasts. Imagine tha'. If I 'ad
known ye could cook before, ye never would 'ave left Muir."

Nathan smiled. "But now you get to find out all about my hidden
talents." The smile faded a little. "Don't think I'll be doing much
cooking breakfast, though," he muttered. "Still don't seem to have
much energy for getting around, apart from the fact that I can't see
where I'm going..."

"...I could cook..." It was said mostly in jest but she managed to
keep the mirth out of her voice and tried not to giggle.

"I can give you directions," he said firmly. "We'll make do." He
kissed her again, carefully, and then closed his eyes. "Go back to
sleep," he murmured.

"Only if ye do," Moira murmured, snuggling in closer and relaxing.
