Who: Scott Summers, Jubilation Lee.
What Happens: Jubilee meets with Scott as arranged and they discuss what happens now that she's been accepted as a Trainee.

Jubilee examined the door in front of her and knocked softly, grinning at the fact that she seemed to find herself knocking on doors a lot lately. You'd think she was becoming all responsible or something the amount of staff she seemed to talk to. Still, this way was working much better then the petulant tough girl act she'd been pulling. Even if she herself wasn't entirely sure whether this new attitude of hers was real, or just a reaction to the environment she found herself in. She'd always been adaptable that way but maybe it said something that she wanted this change to be real.

"Anyone home?" she called, glancing at her watch.

She was a little early, okay so she was half an hour early but she'd been accepted! It was...overwhelming...kinda nice. Certainly not what she'd expected and she was admittedly just a touch nervous.

"Come in, Jubilee." Scott had expected her to be early, actually, and part of him was mildly amused that he'd been right. Good to know that he could still read people, even if he had his head stuck up his own ass on a number of all-too-significant issues. "You're lucky I was in here working already," he said as she opened the door and stepped in. "Although really, where else would I have been?"

Jubilee peered round the door, a wide smile on her face. Due to a sudden whimsical notion this morning, her hair was done up in two Princess Leia style buns and the miniscule bells woven into the ribbons chimed softly. She thought they looked rather interesting in a bizarre hairstyle kinda way. Of course, the ribbons were probably a bit over the top but when had she ever been sedate?

"Well, you could have had a sudden craving for French baguettes and gone to Paris." she said, as she entered the room.

Scott raised an eyebrow, amused at both the comment and the hairstyle. "With all the work I have to do? Not hardly." He waved her to a seat. "Sit down so you stop chiming."

Jubilee walked over, a bounce in her step and settled into the seat. She looked at Scott expectantly. "Sooo. Do I get to call you Fearless Leader now?"

"I'd prefer you don't," Scott said wryly. "If you really have to call me something other than Scott, try 'Captain'. That at least is more or less unobjectionable." He closed the file he'd been working on, calling up the access list he'd compiled for Jubilee. "You realize that before you do anything 'fun', you're going to be doing a lot of reading."

Jubilee snickered, she couldn't help it, really. "Dude, my entire life is reading right now. I'm like, totally involved with the written word. So, Captain. What am I readin' exactly?" she replied.

"Procedures, protocols, and historical files," Scott said promptly. "Before you actually do any physical or powers training, you need to be fully versed on what being an X-Man would actually entail." He shrugged a little. "The first two are tedious, but necessary. I think you'll find the third more interesting..." He turned the laptop around, pushing it across the desk to her. "There... you can set up a password so that you can access the parts of the database you have clearance for from your own computer."

Jubilee pondered the choice of password. She was going to use sherbet lemon but had decided against it for something she knew no one would ever guess concerning her. 'responsible' she typed in, grinning to herself. She looked up at Scott, leaning back in the chair.

"When should I have it all read by?" she asked.

"Depends on when you want to start with the physical training," Scott said. "I wouldn't recommend trying to digest it all in a couple of days. I expect, given the other demands on your time, that it might take you about a week if you apply yourself to it."

Jubilee nodded, looking at him curiously. "Okay. Who do I ask about startin' the physical stuff when I'm done with all this?"

"Come back and see me. You'll be working with a number of people. Me, most likely, for the powers-related training - we don't start you off in the Danger Room right away, and I do specialize in the energy-projectors." He looked a bit regretful. "I'd have sent you to Nathan for hand-to-hand, but obviously that's not an option right now. Haroun, possible, or Sean..."

"Dude, awesome. Don't really know Haroun that well but I've met Sean before. He kinda dropped in on me first day he got here. Totally cool guy, an he's got that wicked accent." Jubilee replied, unable to contain the bounce of excitement as she thought of starting training.

She needed to read all this required stuff quickly, so she could start. Of course, skipping sleep would have gotten her through it pretty quickly but then she'd have had Mads 'I'm disappointed in you' look to contend with. She could probably afford to do some reading during the classes she was ahead on. Well, if she was sneaky about it anyhow.

Scott correctly deciphered the excited look. "This can't get in the way of your schoolwork," he said warningly. "If it does, we're going to have to reevaluate this. Consider it the first real test of your ability to juggle responsibilities."

How'd he know!? Scary psychic mind reading Scott. Well, if she couldn't read any of this during class, and she couldn't lose any sleep over it. Hmm...she could read during breakfast, lunch and dinner if she didn't want to give up any of the study time she'd already allocated. That'd give her at the very least about two hours a day to read. Which would take her about a week to get through it all. Damn.

Jubilee grinned at him. "Well, guess I should come by in a week then. Anythin' else I gotta know or do? Or is this it for now?"

"That'll do to start. Once you've done the initial reading, it becomes more complicated." Scott reached for his coffee cup. "Just pace yourself, Jubilee," he advised. "Enthusiasm is all well and good, and you're certainly not going to hurt yourself with excessive reading, but when it gets to the physical stuff, overdoing it is detrimental. We've had people overtrain before."

"Scott, I've been trainin' as a gymnast since I was like, a little kid. Knowin' when and how long ta train' ain't gonna be a problem for me. You guys tell me when and where and how much an I'll give you whatever ya need." she replied, still grinning.

She wondered if she'd have to give up any of the physical activities she currently did. Tai Chi in the mornings would probably still be okay but she also spent at least an hour in the gym at night working on her gymnastics. She wondered exactly what they'd have her doing. She couldn't wait to find out.

Oh, the confidence. Scott's smile was a little crooked. The gymnastic experience would certainly help, but she really didn't have any idea what she was getting herself into yet. "Reading first," he said. "Then the fun stuff."

Jubilee didn't trust that smile - it was exactly the same kind of smile that Logan used to get before he knocked her on her ass in self-defence. That 'I know you think you know what it's all about but I'm about to show you what it's really all about' smile.

Damn.

"Well, guess I better scoot then. Gotta get my stuff for class." she replied.

Scott waved at her in dismissal as she got up. "I'll see you later. Any questions about any of the material, let myself or Alison or Ororo know. That's what we're here for."

"Will do...Captain." Jubilee replied, a twinkle of mischief in her eyes as she darted out the door, ribbons jangling merrily.

Does this mean that Marie-Ange can start calling Scott "El Capitan"? Though I suppose she hasn't actually seen any Trek: Next Gen to get any good Q references there.
