Professor,

I'd like to be made aware of what will happen following the fight (there's no other way to say it, is there?) between Sarah and Haroun. To be honest, I don't like the idea of nothing being made of the event, if only because it won't bring any change at all in how Sarah interacts with others in general, but also with her fellow students in particular - some of who do not have similar attitudes towards life in general, nor would be equipped to deal in any way with an outburst of physical hostility on her part.

Damn. Double Damn. He was hurt pretty bad from what I could tell, but refusing to owe up to it in any way shape or form. I told Hank... it's up to Haroun whether to go or not, of course. Arg. I can try and hunt him up later maybe, but – he's very proud. Very much so. And I know some of the students' attitudes have been getting on his nerve. It doesn't excuse getting into a fight. But if it had to happen with anyone, I'm not surprised it was Sarah. To be honest, sometimes Professor, I want to bash her head in through a wall. Repeatedly.

... I didn't know about Sarah's extracurricular activities. Yeah, that's a tad bit ironic, innit? She's raise a stink about it being supervised or cut off, you can be sure about that. To be very blunt, for someone who insists no one should judge her, she does tend to do that to others (oh, sort of like other people breathe, say). Frankly, I don't know if there's ever going to be any way to even minimally integrate her with the rest of the student body. She actively works against it, and has no intention of changing her views on anyone or anything, and has made that very clear – and keeps doing so any opportunity she gets. Right now, I'm just thinking that keeping her from stabbing one of the other students over a real (or imagine) slight is about as lucky as I'll get. Right now, it's like the only language she understands coming from someone she hasn't decided is as "freaky" as herself, and hence acceptable, is either violence or being dismissive and ignoring anything they might have to say, in consequence.

Sorry if that comes off sounding as pessimistic, Professor.

Alison,

I distinctly remember offering you the position of school counselor, my dear, not school saint, and Sarah is certainly enough to try the patience of both. But I will certainly keep trying to think of ways to make her want to change, as I think that's the only way she ever will.

I've already requested Haroun see Henry for a physical evaluation--if he's not fit for travel we certainly won't turn him out until he's recovered--and I'll drop Henry a note to expect him, and look for him if he fails to appear.

What I can do for you, however, is something that I've been considering since John's rescue, and certainly since the hurricane and its aftermath, if you're willing. Scott will be leading a team of X-Men down to Mississippi shortly, to rescue the kidnapped son of an old friend of mine; I feel certain he will agree that there is a place for you on that team, and with the X-Men in general. The mission will certainly take you out of the mansion for at least a few days, and while as always I would prefer the matter concluded peacefully, reality, experience, and a regrettable knowledge of humanity's worse nature compel me to admit that you will most likely encounter situations wherein you may beat someone's head against any convenient wall with a clear conscience.

You will find a more detailed mission briefing on the team's restricted messageboard, and Scott will have your uniform waiting, if you so choose. Otherwise, if you wish to attend a concert or other performance this weekend, you are not the only one here with a few contacts in the entertainment industry and I think you may be confident of tickets to whatever you would like to see.

Heh. I'd make a lousy saint anyway. Thanks and gotcha. And let me know if you can think of anything or make progress... frankly, I'm stumped on that one.

I... You mean more than just a one off mission, don't you? Yes. I - I'd like that. When I first got here, I'd have run away in the other direction, but... yeah, feels just about as right as can be, now. And so does beating someone's head in a wall with a clear conscience, I admit. Ahem.

I'll hold you to those tickets when I get back, though. ;)

Yes, Scott's sense of responsibility does seem to be contagious. A retrovirus of the soul, perhaps? One sneeze, and everyone within ten feet pays their taxes three weeks early?

Oh! Contagious, and he hasn't told anyone or even taken precautions? Now that's just irresponsible of him.
