Not all of Paige's visitors today drop by while she's awake. But that's not what matters, really.
She doesn't say a word, knowing it's far too late in the night to even contemplate waking up the form slumbering on the bed not too far away. Sleep is important, just now. She needs rest and time and space, and most of all, she needs sleep right at this very moment.
But there are fewer bandages now and she doesn't twitch in her repose anymore, nor does she fritter away at the cloths binding her wounds until they fall to the ground, needing to be replaced. She doesn't start abruptly, curling up on herself as though the world might suddenly decide to launch an attack upon her, tearing away at her until nothing is left. The stuffed, carefully mended bunny is set on the bed next to the sleeping girl, before the chair is claimed by the watcher. There is no sharpness to the fingers that eventually reach for the well loved toy, nor does anything happen to it other than it being cuddled closer, gently.
Paige sleeps, breathing calm and even.
And Alison watches, contented by the sight.
