Summers-Dane Suite, inhabitants thereof

Lorna and Alex continue to plan for Hawaii and schedule a short trip to look at apartments. Backdated.



"Uh huh. Love you too. Yes." Lorna rolled her eyes at Alex and made her free hand blab, "MOM! Yeah, yeah. Bye." With another roll of her eyes, Lorna hung up the phone and flopped down on the couch, resting her head in Alex's lap. "Mom says they've narrowed down the places to the top three and that we should go out there and look at them." Not exactly accurate but really some things you didn't need to pass on word for word.

Alex just smiled, knowing she wasn't relaying word for word after having many conversations with Mrs. Dane himself. "So your parents want us to come down to Hawaii to look at apartments? Hey, you know I'm all over any excuse to return to my islands." Running his hand though her hair, he moved the other to rub her neck.

"Mmm," she let her eyes drift close, "yeah. She and Daddy are going to be going home soon but we don't have to rush. Maybe in a couple weeks? I have a bunch of stuff here to deal with and I'll have to work out my schedule with the team leaders."

Alex just nodded. "Whenever you're ready we'll go" He leaned down to place a soft kiss on her forehead.

"End of the month would be best. I'll let Scott know." She sounded almost sleepy with relaxation but the tension in the back of her neck told a different story. "Is there anyone you want to see when we head out there? We can always take a couple more days to visit if you want to. Oh, and Mom and Dad want us to visit them before we move. I was thinking like a week in Cali?" She smiled up at him inquiringly.

He continued to rub, working at the tight areas. "Some friends, if they don't run from the sight of me. Manny won't but some of the others...I'm not sure." At the suggestion of the visit to California, Alex smirked down at her. "So I can be threatened with the shot gun again?"

She grinned back up at him, "Oh, you know you love it when he does that. Then you get to be all noble and fighting for me." She lifted one hand and stroked her fingertips over his jaw. "So did you want to try to meet some people or just forget it? We'll do whatever you want."

"Any time I get to try and convince your father I love you more then anything is fun for me. Plus it lets him have a chance to be all protective and fatherly. Everybody wins." Giggling softly, ha ran his other hand through her hair again. "Maybe not right now, after we're settled. It would be nice to see some of my old surfing buddies again. Show them the babe I found over here on the mainland...."

"Whatever makes you happy, love. I'd love to meet your friends." Lorna patted his cheek. "I'll tell Mom we're coming. She'll be super excited. In the meantime, I'll book tickets as soon as I have my schedule confirmed, okay?"

Alex nodded, smiling down at her. "And I'll e-mail the friends I still talk too from home. If there's anything else you need from me, just let me know."

"Can't think of anything off the top of my head." She closed her eyes again, trying to ignore the sick feeling of nerves in her stomach that was becoming her usual companion about moving to Hawaii. She just didn't think she could explain it adequately.

Continuing to run his hand through her hair, he looked down at her, noticing the tension around her closed eyes. He toyed with asking again if this is what she really wanted but didn't. He was too relaxed to argue.
