Later on Saturday night...
Nov. 22nd, 2003 08:48 pmAngelo was sitting in the rec room, watching TV. Since posting his offer of self-defense lessons, he wanted to make himself available, so anyone who wanted them could easily find him to ask.
Kitty had come back from her lesson still kind of frazzled, although the ice cream with Jamie had helped. Making her way into the rec room to relax she spotted Angelo and an idea came to her. "Hey, Angelo?"
Angelo looked up with a smile, and raised a hand in greeting. "Hey, Kitty. What can I do for you?"
Kitty made her way across the room and dropped onto the couch. "So, about your self defense class thingy?"
Angelo shifted on the couch slightly to make more room for her. "Yeah? You want to sign up?"
"Yeah, I think so. Something happened at class today and I kind of think I should get back to doing that. I mean," she added, "I didn't bother with signing up for the class this term because of my lessons with Wolverine before he left, but now..."
Angelo nodded, understanding. "Yeah, I get you. You know this will be as much about avoiding a fight as winning one, right? I just want what happened to Doug not to happen again..."
"That's kind of my point too, yeah," she said with a sigh.
Angelo grinned. "We're on the same page, then. Good. So when's a good time for you to do this?"
"Well, not during classes, obviously," she said with an answering smile. "Not Saturday afternoons when I've got dance, beyond that, any evening ought to be ok, or Sunday."
"That works for me. I'll talk to Mr. Summers about booking the gym, and maybe one of the staff if he thinks someone should be there."
"Sounds like a plan," she said. "What are you up to now?"
"Nothing much", Angelo answered. "Why? You want to have a session now?"
"No, I'm too tired. Mostly I was just wondering. You going to object if I turn on some brain candy?" she asked, nodding toward the tv.
"No problem with me! Anything good on?"
"Oh, I doubt it," she said with a laugh. "Good television? Isn't that an oxymoron?"
"Ah, but all television's good!" he answered, grinning. "Especially if you're after brain candy."
"Well, you're right about the brain candy," she said, hunting for the remote.
Angelo produced the remote from the floor by his feet and handed it over.
"Ah, thanks." A quick motion later and the tv was on, automatically tuned to Cartoon Network. "Oh joy... animated brain candy!"
Angelo laughed, turning to look at the screen. "Cartoons are always good. You staying down here for a while?"
"For a bit," she said. "I might turn in early - get some work done and catch up on my sleep, but I'll be here at least as long as... this," she waved vaguely at whatever strange and brightly colored thing was on the screen, "is on."
"Cool. As long as I have company, I can get away with watching this", he joked.
"There we go. I'll be your excuse and you be mine?"
"It's a deal!"
