Scott takes some time to catch up with the Mansion's newest student.

Jennie stifled another yawn before tentatively knocking on the large wood-panel door. She had managed to get out of bed before 9 am, and while she felt rather accomplished about that particular feat, she wished it was for a better reason than this.

"Come in," Scott called from inside the office. When the door opened to reveal the rather tired-looking newest member of the student body, he gave her a quick, reassuring smile. "Morning, Jennie. I would be Scott... want to come in and sit down? I promise, I won't take up too much of your time."

"It's okay if you want to, I mean, um. Yeah." Jennie flopped herself into the chair and tried to string together a coherent sentence. "I mean. I don't mind getting up this early. I needed to. And It's for a good reason." She said slowly.

"I'm technically this headmaster-ish person around here," Scott said amiably, "which means that I get to keep track of how students are doing. Particularly new students just settling in. So how are you?"

Jennie shrugged. "M'okay, I guess. I keep sleeping too much. But I'm trying to sleep like a normal person. Although I keep setting my alarm wrong. Or sleeping through it." Jennie punctuated that last sentence by smothering another yawn. "I think I'm doing ok."

"Do you want to be doing more?" Scott asked. When Jennie didn't answer immediately, he explained. "We're not running that much in the way of formal classes this summer, and I know your circumstances are a bit unusual, but taking into account that you may be here for some time, I think it would probably be a good idea to get you tested properly to see what sorts of classes you'd fit into."

Jennie shrugged again. "I don't mind. It'd be something to do. Keep me awake or something."

"Getting you back onto a regular schedule would probably be good." Scott paused, sizing her up for a moment, then decided that it couldn't hurt to make the offer. "We've got someone on staff here that you might want to talk, too, given some of the things that have happened in your life lately. A lot of your fellow students talk to Doctor Samson regularly... they find it really helpful."

"Doctor Samson? Is he, like, a shrink or something?" Jennie cracked her knuckles nervously. "Maybe. When do I gotta take a test?"

"Technically, yes, he's a shrink. But he's a very uncommon shrink," Scott said with a brief grin. "And maybe early next week? It'll take a bit for us to get that set-up, and if you've still sleeping a lot, it'll give you a few more days to catch up."

Jennie nodded. "Okay. I'll try and be awake a lot more. It would help if the bureau would sent me my stuff. Especially my alarm clock. It's so old it's Jennie-proof." She added ruefully. She missed having her stuff. "And am I going to get a permanent room? Mr. Xavier said that where I was at is going to be temporary, so I don't want to, like, sprawl and then have to move again."

"You know, I could make a couple of calls about your stuff," Scott offered. "As for rooms... we can see about moving you into one of the suites soonish. There's a little more space, and having roommates might help get you onto a more normal schedule."

Jennie smiled a little at that. "Yeah. That would be great, I would really like that." She shrugged her thin shoulders again.

"Then I'll see what I can do about that this weekend," Scott said briskly, "and set up the tests for the beginning of the week." He smiled at her. "Anything you need in the meantime?"

Jennie shook her head. "Um. I don't think so. But, could you, um, could you give me that Doctor's number?"

Color him several shades of impressed. Scott scrawled down Leonard's office number and the time of his office hours on a piece of paper. "I'll let you call him," he said easily, "since you'll want to set up a time that's best for you yourself."

Jennie took the number and stuffed it in her back pocket. Secretly, she was quite sick of being in the rut she was in, and was willing to do what was necessary to crawl out of it. And she was not self-medicating by any means. She had seen her mother go down that road, and Jennie was determined to not screw up like she had. So if it meant getting shrinked, then it meant getting shrinked. "Is there anything else you need to talk to me about?"

"No, think that's about it for now. But if you need anything, Jennie..." Scott's smile came back. "I'm serious. Just ask. That's what I'm here for."

Jennie nodded again. Though Jennie knew she wouldn't unless it was absolutely necessary. "Thank you Mr. Summers." She said politely.
