xp_logsOnce at the hotel, Alex gets a phone call
Alex sat on the bed of the hotel room, his and Lorna's luggage scattered about, staring at the pair of cell phones in his hands. On the plane, he discovered that Lorna had left both her commlink and her cell phone in her purse when she had given it to him. He knew he should be getting ready tomorrow to move Lorna's stuff to her apartment and his to his dorm room, but alls he could think about was the fact he was here all alone. Taking a deep breath, he moved to punch in the Dane's number in his cell phone when it suddenly rang, making him jump.
It wasn't a familiar number, though the area code matched the Dane's so it had to have been from the same area in California.
It took him a moment to realize he should put the phone to his ear. "Hello?" He asked softly then brightened when he recognized the voice. "Lorna! Hi! Is everything alright?"
Her explanation made him frown. "But, can't your parents take care of them? Classes start soon!" He didn't voice the fact that he needed her here. For once he wished he could be selfish but instead just asked with silent desperation.
Alex closed his eyes and rubbed a hand at his temple, letting out a deep sigh. "How long are they going to need you?"
Alex nearly choked. "No...November? Lorna. that's almost all of fall semester!" He closed his eyes, a headache building. "This isn't you backing out of this whole thing is it? Because, as I said before, I want to do this with you, but you don't have to, I understand..." He hoped that wasn't it, but he'd rather know outright.
Her voice was snappish but reassuring. He sighed with slight relief. "Alright, I believe you, just checking. Insecure remember?" He paused a moment to think rationally. "I'll talk to the school tomorrow, get you withdrawn for the semester. Take care of Cammy and say hi to your parents for me." Alex didn't even pause before adding, "I love you and miss you already."
"I know you'll try. And just, come back soon alright? Bye love." He hated to end the call but he knew if he didn't, he'd keep her on the line all night and it sounded like she was really needed. Of course, she was really needed here as well. Sighing, Alex fell back on the bed and closed his eyes. Now what am I gonna do?
