Backdated to the day after Alison's return from the Haunted Winnebago trip. Terry has a music lesson and for once, absolutely doesn't mind the fact that it ends early. Probably due to all the new boyfriend glee and the chance to squee about it before being sent off to find Bobby.
The short run of notes stuttered and faltered as Terry's concentration ebbed again and she giggled an apology to Alison. She lifted her hands from the keys and tucked her hair behind her ears, grinning. She'd been late to the lesson in the first place and this was the fourth such run that she'd messed up, unusual for her even at her lower skill level. Terry always struggled with piano but not this much and never with this much good cheer. "I can't seem to get that one. Should I start over?"
A quiet snort greeted that, Alison giving Terry a look of amused tolerance - a happy shift from the earlier sharpness which had previously greeted Terry's lack of concentration, most certainly. "Uh huh. How about not? You any more cheerful than this over flubbing the lines, your head may split in two from the grinning."
Terry attempted to bite back her grin or at least rein it in a bit. "I'm not. I mean, it's not the mistakes. I really am sorry about screwing up. I'm just not focused today I guess." She grinned at
Alison. "Was your trip good? Kitty and Jamie made it sound traumatic."
"Oh sure, not focused she says. Yeesh, whadja take me for anyway, kid?" Dragging a chair over to sit down on it, turning it around and straddling it, Alison pointed a finger at Terry. "Trip went fine. A Winnebago threw goop at me and the Brat exorcised it. Now. You talk, or it's the light torture for you, missy!"
Terry giggled again and spun on the piano bench so she was facing Alison, feet up in front of her, arms wrapped around her knees. "You can't tell Sean," she admonished first. She blushed and her grin was so wide it hurt. "I have a boyfriend."
"Gah! Why would I tell Sean that? Unless he were drinking hot coffee or something and I wanted to see him choke to death or something," she added, catching on to the last sentence and starting to chuckle at the look of pure glee on Terry's face. "So, who's the lucky guy?" So I can hunt him down and threaten laser surgery of the permanent kind if he makes you cry, was the rest of the unspoken thought.
Terry blushed even more. "Bobby." It was barely above a whisper though no less besotted for it.
"Bobby?" Blinking, Alison stared at Terry and reflected it was most certainly a good thing she hadn't been drinking anything, else there'd have been much choking going on before any staring could be done. "Bobby?!?"
Terry nodded, her eyes slightly widening like she was just now realizing that maybe not everyone would be ecstatic about this. A sudden chill ran down her spine. "Um, yeah. That's okay, right?"
She was so going to go all big sister on Bobby. Poor boy. Laughing, Alison rose from the chair and swooped down upon Terry, hugging her silly. "Of course it is, kiddo!" You just don't get to know I'm going to go fearsome on him. Some. If he doesn't jump out a window when he sees me heading his way.
Terry sighed in relief and hugged Alison tightly, all her glee returned. "He's so great. I didn't think...he's always said he was my big brother. I couldn't believe it. I still don't. It's like a dream or something."
The gushing was cute and Terry certainly was doing the whole 'stars in eyes' glowing bit. "Well, since you're telling me and I'm not sleeping, I think you're safe from the this is only a dream scenario, kiddo." Winking cheerfully at Terry, Alison decided the lesson was at a close for this time, at least. "You're off the hook for today but you better be showing concentration at the next class, mm?"
Terry nodded solemnly. "I promise I'll be better tomorrow." She bounced in place, "So I'm done for today?" Bobby was supposed to be at a training session or something but he should be done soon.
Snorting softly, Alison nodded. "Go on, go look for him." She had the niggling suspicion Terry would already know exactly where Bobby might be found and what his schedule might be. The girl seemed to have a knack that way.
