Do you still seek to know? And what?
Nov. 25th, 2003 11:40 pmSince you all aren't likely to get this from her, I thought you'd all like a little peek into how the monster in the basement is dealing right about now.
The room Sarah has been occupying for weeks now is dark, just the way she likes it. She wraps up in blankets, mostly shredded and useless and sits back against a blood-stained pillow. She knows that eventually they'll come looking for her, expect her to apologize like the others probably already had. They'll want her to explain her reasons, because even thought they'd saved Betsy's life, apparently that had been entirely the WRONG DECISION.
She wondered what she would say. She wanted so desperately to tell them to fuck off, that they were wrong and needed get a grip on reality. Two months fishing around in Betsy's head proved utterly useless in Sarah's mind, while Essex had delivered on his claims. He said he could help, and in less than two days had not only brought her out of the coma she'd been in, but also brought her sight back. Sarah knew who she'd want to be around if she ever got hurt...
She refused to apologize for saving Betsy's life. Once, she'd been helpless to save those who mattered most to her, and she swore that it would never happen again. She learned to push herself to get things done, to grab every opportunity and fuck the consequences. Those can be dealt with later. And she would.
She would stand by her decision, because it _was_ the right one, no matter what they wanted to believe. Two months ago, she'd heard Betsy's log say "No child should have to see the dead corpses of her family. No one." Sarah was pretty sure Betsy would understand if she refused to see another one.
Sometimes there are no right answers.
