Scott runs into Alison while she does one of the rare food runs she can ~ since the rest of the time, food magically appears beside her when she's not looking. ;) They talk about her return to active duty (considering she was a bit distracted of late) and a certain company she's taken interest in...

Scott was somewhat surprised to find that Alison wasn't in the medlab. That was where one looked for her these days, more often that not, but according to Hank she'd stepped out a few minutes ago. Getting some air, or hopefully food, Scott resolved, and headed back upstairs with the idea of making a swing by the kitchen, the porch, and her suite, respectively, until he found her.

Turning at the top of the stairs, mug of tea and plate in hand, Alison paused as she saw Scott heading up, giving her one of those looks that meant he'd been looking for someone and found her. "Hey." It was one of the rare moments where she'd actually had the chance to go look for food on her own, as opposed to finding something at her elbow at one point while looking up, and the difference showed in the simple solitary sandwich balanced on her plate.

"Hey," he said with a warm smile. "Just the person I was looking for. Where are you headed?" She was eating of her own accord. Excellent. Not that he minded making food drops in her general vicinity when it was his turn, but this was a good sign.

"Back downstairs?" she offered, though she was already trailing off weakly as she spoke, looking down at the steps while studiously avoiding his gaze. She had the feeling, from the way people tended to lure her away from the medlab now and then, that she might end up being a mite detoured once more.

Scott immediately shifted aside, smiling, and gestured for her to precede him. "Walk you back?" he asked whimsically. "I was just wondering if you wanted some company, that's all. Wasn't going to drag you out into the Evil Blue Room or anything."

"Oh. Yeah! That'd be nice." Relaxing a bit she took the steps down one at a time instead of the now mostly usual two at a time (when she was on her own). "You know, company on the way back to making sure I'm not in the way and wait for Haroun to wake up again so I don't miss anything..." she trailed off at that and offered Scott a tired and somewhat sheepish grin.

"Good to have him back in the land of the awake even on an irregular basis, I bet," Scott said quietly, the smile lingering. "He's still doing the sleeping beauty act every time I look in, mind you. I even tried going 'Nyah, nyah, the 'Bird's all mine and I've been doing all kinds of appalling things to it' but that didn't get a rise out of him. Pity."

"It is." Despite everything else, it was that thought which kept the light to Alison's eyes when she waited for Haroun to wake up. "I'd rat you out, but I really don't want to be taking down notes on what to do to you until Haroun wakes up for the sin of molesting the 'Bird, y'know?"

"But they'd be such creative notes," Scott said with a chuckle. "Full of inventive and diabolical things..." He gave her a sideways look as they headed towards the medlab. "How are you doing?" he asked more quietly. Knowing she'd know what he meant.

"Hanging in there. Focusing on what's important, right now, and letting the rest sort itself out." She handed him the mug of tea, and stretched her arm out slowly as they finished heading down the steps and hit the corridor. "Miles is doing well, even with the whole hyperactive thing. I'm getting help there for when I'm down in the medlab. I'm not sleeping well but that's to be expected. I'm still being careful. And..." she took a deep breath, nodding to herself slightly. "And I appreciate having been allowed to not take missions since we got back, but I'm going to have to get back to full duty soon." She didn't specify when, merely introducing the notion for now.

Scott nodded slowly. "Someone can fill in for Haroun until he's back on his feet," he said, quietly but firmly enough that the whole temporary nature of the idea was delivered with absolute confidence. "Cain has asked me not to put him in that position again, but Kylun, Sean, Nathan once he's active again... there's a good pool of experience to draw on in the interim."

"And we're alternating anyway, so during my week on point, there's Kurt and Sam as well, in a pinch." Nodding, she then reached out to reclaim her mug, accepting it with a small nod of thanks. "I'll see if Jean can look me over and clear me, just in case the stress and all might throw me off, but otherwise, yeah. Soon." They weren't done yet for Haroun, not by a long shot, but he'd crossed a crucial point with the removal of the old hardware and the spore finally being flushed from his system.

"Is there anything you need?" Scott asked. "I know you're still spending a good part of your time down here, and I've been worrying that people might be writing you off as the ghost of the medlab... I mean," he amended with a smile, "I know you're getting fed. Because I'm asking, and all..."

"Heh. The ghost of the medlab is indeed being well taken care of," Alison smiled a bit at that. "With a certain XO even stealing her laptop to make sure she can concentrate what's going on without any fuss." The less said about what had prompted that particular bit of property relocation, the better -  that particular matter was settled, as far as she was concerned. "Can't have the immediate of what I need. So I'm working on the rest." She paused, then stopped in front of the Operations room and tilted her head to the side - better talk there, even for a few brief moments, than in the hallway.

Scott nodded, and let her precede him in. "Sam did bring your laptop back, I hope? It was just a temporary relocation..."

"Yep. Was back in time for me to make that announcement regarding Haroun. Perfect timing." She smiled just a bit. Being able to hold Haroun's hand was doing wonder for her morale, even with what was looking ahead for the next operation. "And I wanted to tell you about something," she added, sobering up as she closed the door firmly behind them.

"Hm. Okay, shoot," Scott said, wondering what it could be. She looked serious, but not worried, and given all the time she'd spent in the medlab of late, he was wondering just what this could possibly be...

Alison smiled, serenely so. "Well, see... there's this company I just bought..."
