A series of short pieces of the two of them getting to know one another again. It's really like he never left. Some areas more childproof than other, proceed with caution...

It wasn't really that early. I mean, not even by normal standards was it that early. Eight, at the earliest... well, maybe seven. But either way, it wasn't too early for Paige to be creeping into Jono's room, ready to pounce, and have him get angry at her for it. There would be no logical explanation whatsoever; if he did react so, clearly it was just a reaction to the whole new body thing. Clearly.

"Morning, baby," Paige murmured in Jono's ear, quite easily sitting in his lap, and not so much murmured but spoke at a normal tone. Murmured just sounded sexier, considering she was in his lap.

There was no pause or change in breathing as Jono woke up as there was no breathing whatsoever. He just opened his eyes and looked up at Paige, then lifted a hand and flexed it. "Thought I was dreamin'..." he mumbled, or at least didn't articulate his thoughts so clearly. He smiled at her then, before glancing at the clock. "It's bloody night still."

Cooing, Paige stroked his hair back from his face, making her best 'you poor muffin' face; so well in fact, that it was in fact obviously a mock. "Go put some pants on, dear."

Jono wrinkled his nose at her, recognizing the fakeness of her sympathy. "I'm repressed by the thought of them this early." He cocked an eyebrow at her, shifting under her. "Also you're sitting on me."

"And you're terribly upset by this, I can tell," she replied, giving him a little smirk as she clambered off of him, having no problem in making as much fuss about it as possible. "Meet me down in the garage in ten minutes, mkay?"

"What for?" Jono sat up, swinging his legs to the floor and running a hand through his hair, looking resignedly around for something to wear that wasn't covered in glitter. The only pair of jeans being the ones Clarice had tampered with, sewing on the little Tinkerbell patch.

Picking up a black travel bag that had been sitting by the door, Paige looked over her shoulder and smiled mysteriously. "If I told you, it wouldn't be much of a surprise, now would it?" she asked, before making her exit, closing the door behind her; modesty's sake.

...

Explaining the psiscape to a person who couldn't see it was like explaining colours to a colour blind person. Which is why Jono was quiet for most of the
ride, just leaning against the side window and watching the scenery passing by. He wasn't quite sure what to think, except that he was sure that blue had never been that blue, and how nice it was that green wasn't just a word anymore.

"Counting telephone poles?" Paige asked suddenly, teasing and smiling briefly at him, most of her attention on the road.

Jono looked at her, startled. "Something like that, yeah." Sometimes he thought that Paige was the telepath out of the two of them, at least when concerning him. Even when he was the one who could close his eyes and sense the shape of her mind and the glow of her thoughts, like fractals floating in space.

She let one hand off the wheel, reaching over and taking his hand, comfortably threading their fingers together. "It's nice that you got to come back now. All the leaves are changing."

They were. In bright yellows and reds and browns, making Jono wonder if he'd really been away almost a year. It all felt odd. People had moved on, new people had arrived, and what he mostly remembered was Sarah leaving and then nothing. Mostly nothing. He squeezed Paige's hand, looking out of the window again. He didn't really have any words for the gratitude he felt towards her, the fact that she had still bothered with him.

"Yeah," he said, nodding, watching the leaves.

...

2046, said the door. The key said the same. Jono looked from the door to the key and to Paige, then shrugged and opened the door. It gave out to a rather fancy set of rooms and Jono stepped in, turning his head to see it all. He tilted his head, looking back at Paige, slightly incredulous. "You got us a hotel room."

"So that's what that those letters all together outside meant. It's a good thing I have you around to pick these things up for me," Paige said teasingly, walking past him to place her black overnight bag on the low dresser, examining her slightly wind tousled hair in the mirror above it and deciding she liked the look, obsessive desire to smooth the strands down evenly shoved away for later.

Slowly, as if sleepwalking, Jono closed the door and moved forward a few steps, frowning slightly. "But... A hotel room?" He had the insane urge to play with the light switch, just to see how he didn't light up a room anymore.

Paige turned around slowly, giving him a low look through her lashes. "Some people were complaining about the noise of happy reunions in the mansion," she said, in a tone that had he not known exactly what she was saying, could have easily been 'I'm wearing no underwear'. Turning back towards the bag, she began to unpack; her things in the right hand drawer and his things, that she'd of course managed to pack, on the left. "I decided to not give them another reason to complain."

Jono took a brief pause at Paige's words, hoping he'd deciphered the tone right and dropped the key on the table next to the door. "Ah, well. Fuck 'em, yeah? Much prefer the noise of happy reunions to the gunfire of unhappy reunions." He walked over to the windows, looking out and then going to peer into the bathroom before going to look over Paige's shoulder.

"Indeed." Done with her quick unpacking; they were merely staying the night after all, and it wasn't like she was planning on needing many fancy outfits for leaving the room with, she turned her head, lips to his ear. "So. Why aren't your pants off yet, Starsmore?"

He took a step back, spreading his arms innocently and smiling because he could. "'Cause my boots need to come off first?"

...

close your eyes.

"This mouth getting back thing? You should have done it much sooner."

Paige nuzzled against Jono's cheek, a habit that would never die, before tilting it back for him to leave a trail of kisses down her neck, stopped short at her blouse, that while being unbuttoned, was still there pesky thing. Hands that had been making short work on pushing the hem of his t-shirt up, exposing a line of palepale skin, moved instead to the last buttons on her shirt.

"Oh, yeah. Because it was so easy." Jono rolled his eyes and sat up, cradling the back of Paige's head with one had, pulling her into a kiss. "I like that- that I can do this now." As always, his thoughts had gone slightly fuzzy from his preoccupation with finer things, such as helping Paige get rid of her blouse.

Chuckling low in her chest, Paige shrugged, the blouse falling from her shoulders before she reached behind her and tossed it on the ground. "It was cake as soon as we figured out what to do," she reminded him, returning to her previous ministrations in exposing more of his abdomen, running fingertips over the sensitive skin while wanting to claw him apart all over again. "We're geniuses, that doesn't make us fast geniuses and-" she paused suddenly, letting out a pleased half sigh, half moan, before continuing. "I like this too. A lot."

There were times one wanted to discuss the details of creating new bodies, and then there were times when it was absolutely not necessary. Jono slipped his arms around Paige, pulling her flush against him, dropping kisses along her jaw. "Really. If people were worried about noises of happy reunions... Were you planning on being extremely vocal?"

"Mm..." Paige purred, lips already parted in the need to get as much air in and out of her in as many ways as possible. "You did have a reputation of getting certain, responses, shall we say, out of me." Lifting her hips, she made all the right movements for removing her trousers, before deciding at the last moment that grinding needingly against him was much more enjoyable. "Always taking precautions, that's me."

"That- that's definitely you," Jono agreed, leaning back on one hand, tilting his hips up against her. "I'm a little surprised you didn't bring more clothes... in case of a fire. Or an angry mutant attack." He let his other hand palm Paige's hip, then slid it down to her thigh.

Making gentle mewling noises, she set a steady, intoxicating rhythm of their hips against each others, the offending fabric somehow only managing to test Jono's patience. "After everything I've put up with in the last year? Karma fucking owes me," she answered, growling the curse, just for him.

There were no words from Jono at first, mostly because he couldn't think any, and he just grinned, eyes half closed. "Frustrated, sunshine?" he asked then, a bit smug, and rolled them around. "Sounds to me you are." He kissed her again, pressing her on the bed with his weight, sliding a hand into the front of her trousers.

"I've been wanting you for ten months," she replied honestly, eyes gone dark and hands moving from front to back, attacking the muscle there with her fingers and palms. "You might not have had hormones as a blissed out ball of light, but I still did and-" she bit her lip against a moan, not giving him the pleasure quite yet, as he toyed with her. "Two to one to nothing for ten months is a long time. I spent more than a little bit of time in the shower with nothing like cleanliness on my mind."

"...I'm sorry." It was an inadequate thing to say, really, but Jono hoped that it was at least made better by his presence. He gave her another kiss before sitting back and tugging off her trousers. "Ten months, yeah? How about getting rid of the clothes then, love?"

"I thought you'd never ask."

...

just put you inside me I would never leave you.

Everything was sort of blurry. Grey, maybe blue and blurry. Things would get dark and then back to blurry, but they were never sharp. She was tired, she knew she was, and because of the arm throw across her waist, so was the man beside her. But he felt no need to fight the dark blue, swimming in it contently, fast asleep.

It was amazing what a little bit of extra skin could do for a person. Paige still marveled at the smooth line between his ear, downdowncurvedown, to his throat, hollowed, and while at the time pulsing without a pulse, now just another beautiful thing.

And his mouth. Oh, god, that mouth. If he were another man she'd be jealous of that mouth, how perfect it was. Not smooth, it wasn't quite that much of a woman's mouth, and for that she was glad. They were slightly chapped, but nothing a little share saliva could cure for the moment, and now a little swollen and red near the bottom.

The arm at her waist had it's fingers curl, tugging at her just in the slightest, almost impatiently, and drawing her nearer. They'd always been close sleepers; she'd never understood that. Paige was such a light sleeper, the idea of sharing a bed with anyone, never mind being this close while sharing it, was absurd. But for some reason, for some strange reason, she'd always slept best with her ear to his chest, listening to the strange, steady rhythm beneath skin.

She could feel him pulling her into the comfort of darkness, the comfort of a well deserved sleep. For the first time in a very long while she felt like herself again; she could spend the rest of her life with this man, this man who let her finally sleep.

...

jono might not have to, but paige still needs to eat.

A knock on the door made Jono look up from his complete and utter idling, basically just enjoying being snuggled up against Paige on the bed and marveling at the fact he could do that at all. He glanced at her, but she only gave him a little smile, the annoying one which could mean anything from 'you're about to be the luckiest man in the world' to 'I've hired someone to kill you'. He gave her a look and got up to answer the door, coming face to face with a decidedly bored-looking man wearing a uniform and holding a box under his arm. "Starsmore?" he asked, and Jono nodded.

There was a bit of a snicker from Paige, and Jono glanced at her eyes narrowed, but she only gave him her innocent face. Jono turned back to the man and took the clipboard carefully, signing the paper and getting the box thrust at him. "Have a nice day," said the courier and stomped down the hallway, while Jono kicked the door shut and just stared at Paige. "And what the hell is this?"

"Only one way to find out. I would suggest being gentle, though," Paige said casually, twirling a piece of hair around her finger.

Jono got back over to the bed, folding himself to sit on the edge, setting the box on his knees and lifting the lid carefully. He peered in, and blinked. "Paige..." He peered in again, eyes wide, meeting another pair of wide eyes from the box, staring back. "Meow," said the little thing inside, and reached out a little black paw, trying to claw at Jono's eyes.

"Aww... he likes you!" Paige said warmly, leaning over Jono to gently offer a curled hand to the kitten to smell. "Well, as much as anyone who had been stuck in a box and shipped across the city can like someone. Aren't you the most handsome little devil, yes you are."

Jono slid the top of the box completely aside, revealing the black kitten. "It's a cat," he stated the obvious. "There's got to be some really good explanation for this."

"It's a black cat. Kitten, actually," she corrected him, as if this was Very Important. "He is for you. As you like cats and you like black. And! When he sheds on your clothes, which he is bound to do, no one will notice. What with the aforementioned black thing."

"Taking precautions again?" Jono gave the kitten an experimental poke, not a hard one, rather gentle actually. "Thanks," he said, giving Paige a smile, not noticing as the kitten sunk his tiny, pointy teeth into his hand, clinging onto it with his tiny, pointy claws.

"I think you mistake taking precautions with thinking ahead," she teased, watching the two of them fondly. "And you're welcome. Any brilliant ideas for a name off the top of your head?" she asked.

"No, not really." He turned his attention back to the kitten and tried to shake him off.

"Well, you'd better think of something, or I'm going to name him for you," she warned with a sparkle in her eyes, gently stroking a finger down the kitten's back which immediately caused him to errupt into a motorboat like purr.

"Anything but that," he deadpanned in return, giving up on loosening the cat, and settling for being a chew toy.

the new cuteness.

Bobby would SO second Jay on this...but he's afraid of Paige. ;) And also really DOES want to see her happy--just wishes it was with someone other than Jono that she found said happiness. *G*
