A few days before Scott tells Bobby he's back on the team, Kylun and Bobby share a Danger Room training session, after which Kylun takes perhaps a smidge too much glee in breaking Bobby's brain several times on the subject of Terry.

As the holographic environment of the Danger Room faded around them, Kylun wiped the sweat from his forehead and took a breath to steady his heartbeat. It had been a good session; Bobby was shaping up nicely, and with more practice the two of them would work very well together.

"That was a good thought, with the floor," he called over. "A good wager, that I would be more used to fighting with ice underfoot than our foes." He tilted his head thoughtfully. "Do you have a moment to speak, while we are both here?"

Bobby grinned sheepishly and replied, "Uh, yeah...next time I'll try to warn you, even." Because it could have been disastrous. "Sure. What's up?"

Kylun straightened carefully. "It seems clear to me that you will be joining us on active duty very soon, and I will therefore be placing my life in your hands. I want you to know that I feel no hesitation in that regard. However, there are things more important than my life." He paused, regarding Bobby seriously. "Terry's happiness is one of those things."

Bobby blinked, startled at this turn in the conversation. "Oh. Uh...I mean--I--Terry?" He rubbed his neck nervously, eyeing Kylun. "Uh. I want her to be happy, too," he finished lamely.

"Good." Kylun nodded. "I know that I can trust you to be honorable, and not to hurt her, and so far she seems happy." He smiled. "I hope for both of your sakes that this all remains true."

Bobby licked his lips, nodding in ready agreement. "Absolutely. Wouldn't dream of hurting her," he babbled, wondering how he managed to get into situations like this. Why did all the women in his life come with scary, threatening men attached to them?

Kylun's smile broadened. "Excellent. I am very happy for you both; we should all have such chances. I remember well when my wife and I first began walking out together . . . although," he added wryly, "you need not worry that I expect you and Terry to take that path. I am not so old-fashioned as that."

Bobby's mouth closed with a snap as he realized he was gaping. "...Right. A bit early for that...?" he said, feeling a twist of panic in his stomach. Marriage was...a good ways down the road for him, he hoped. Prayed. Panicked. Er.

"Enjoy what you have," Kylun agreed, "and there is plenty of time for more--or not, as the Circle turns. I think you will be good for one another." He snorted. "But please do not make her late for any more music lessons. I have an odd habit of expecting my students to be on time, and able to concentrate on the lesson rather than what they have just been doing in private."

Bobby blushed and nodded gamely. "Right. She'll be on time. Early." He groaned inwardly and shook his head. "So. I, uh--y'know. Stuff to do." Escape. Escape would be good. This was mortifying.

"Of course. I did not mean to keep you. I hope we can practice again soon--I would like to propose the ice floor trick to the team leaders as a viable tactic, but it needs refinement." Kylun hid his smile. It would not do to burst into laughter until after Bobby left, but he had to admit, this conversation was a great deal more fun this time around than it had been when he stood in Bobby's place.
