Log // Alison, Haroun // Improvements...
Oct. 24th, 2005 08:18 pmSet after this email on last Friday afternoon. Haroun updates Alison on his condition (yep, that's all it is, uh huh!) and lets her know he'll be moving back up to their suite soon.
Blinking a bit in bemusement at Haroun's cryptic and somewhat frazzled looking email, Alison peered through the doorway of his room, having walked through the infirmary to the "recovery" area as it were.
"Hey there..." she called out, stepping inside with a hint of a worried look about her - it wasn't that she was outright fearing anything, really. Maybe more like habit than anything else, at this point. But if it had been truly urgent, she was sure someone would have let her know in no uncertain terms. "Is everything okay?"
Haroun shrugged, sitting up in bed. "Yes and no." he said cryptically. It was happening again, he noticed, but luckily the sheets on the Medical bed conspired to help conceal it. As soon as he saw her, BAM! There it went. "Managed to kick the new kid in the head. Twice." he said.
"Oh?" She peered at him, not really taking in the comment. "You've got the frowny not happy look thing," she murmured, reaching forward to press a fingertip on his forehead lightly. "What's going on?" She leaned forward a bit, as though to inspect the frowning motion a bit more in depth.
"Stop and think about what I said for a moment." he said, shifting his hips to try to better conceal his ... interesting reaction. Which, come to think of it, was fading quite nicely on its own. Thank Allah. "I kicked the new kid in the head. Twice."
Blink. "Whaaaaat?!?" She stared at him, focusing on what he'd just said. "Kicked! In the head?!" Another blink. "He still has a head after all this, right?"
"I like to think I'd be notified if I decapitated him, yes." he said. "I didn't have time to think. I just ... reacted. Plus, I klonked my head on the floor. It still hurts a little, but Medical always has the best painkillers." he smirked. "I think the new 'ware's been listening to Shiro." he said cryptically.
"Oh dear, do I want you to be more specific in that regard?" she murmured, shifting her weight to half sit, half lean on the bed, looking at his head critically as though a bruise the size of Long Island might be revealed at any given moment.
Haroun gave her the Googly Eyes for a bit, then took a breath to compose himself. "Don't think. _Do_." he explained. "When I didn't have time to think, when I wasn't trying to move, I moved. Effortlessly, naturally. Except for the screaming pain and the passing out part, anyway, but that's probably because I'm not fully healed yet." he said. "Medical seems to agree with me. But when I came to after kicking Marius in the head the second time, all the pain -stopped. And I had MUCH more ability to move than I did yesterday. Want to see?"
She grinned widely at that, the implications being very very good indeed. "Damn right I want to see," she scooted aside just a bit, giving him room to demonstrate as he would - which she had no doubt would not include a kick to the head for her, at least.
Haroun swung out one leg so that it dangled off the edge of the bed -which still _barely_ managed to keep himself covered - and moved his leg for her edification. Left and right, full foot flexing, knee extension, all of it. Effortless, save for the slow grinding pain in his lower back.
She did not, thankfully, squee out loud in glee, though the temptation was there and she had to at least bounce a bit on the edge of the bed before hopping down to take a few steps back, eyeing the moving limb with all due respect. "My, that's a lively leg that is, innit?"
At which point, her attention was distracted by something... else.
Haroun grinned at her and put the leg back under the covers, taking the chance to readjust things, which had once again woken up and were demanding some attention. Maybe if he played it cool she wouldn't notice. He wasn't sure he was up for that - so to speak - and he didn't want to get anyone's hopes up.
Sighing at the direction his thoughts were going, he looked at her with a grin. "Think I'll spend a few more hours down here - there's some more tests the docs want to run - but if all goes well with that I'll meet you upstairs this evening." he said with a grin.
The return smile was brilliant, Alison looking up at his face quickly without any specific comment. At all. Nope sir, not a one. "That's..." she leaned forward suddenly, settling for a hug when words failed, drawing in a suddenly unsteady breath as she clung to him. "That would be really great."
Haroun hugged her back fiercely, just clinging to her for a second. "Yeah." he said, not trusting himself to say more - nor, as he realized after a moment, was it necessary to.
