Dani comes down to deliever dinner and Tommy is his usual charming self.

"Tommy?" Dani called from the middle of the medlab, she didn't really want to see him, but she was bringing him dinner. Normally, one of the medlab helpers came to bring it to him, but they were busy. Truthfully, there was no reason beyond her desire to not see him for someone else to bring the plate down.

Looking up from the chair where he was again working with his hand weights, Tommy raised an eyebrow at the new girl. "What, I try the patience of all the other helpers already? I'm flattered."

"They're busy," Dani explained succintly. "Besides, I wanted to know what you wanted to eat, if you had a food preference," it was as good a lie as any and she did like to know what people preferred.

Tommy snapped his fingers sarcastically. "Oh darn...and Here I was hoping." He sat back in the chair, crossing his arms after setting down the weight under his chair. As he looked at her, Tommy realized, "Hey, your the chick who had that class with Josh's sister...The one who gives weird visions..." His voice rose slightly in slight anger and apprention as he spoke.

Dani nodded in agreement and set the plate down on the nearby table, "I get them too," at least she did with Manuel, "They ain't fun. Karen don't come to class anymore either," from her tone, Dani wished she did.

"She obviously knows better then to hang out with a freak..." Tommy shrugged, though he thought Josh had said Karen was going back to those classes...but that had been about three months ago so he had no idea what to think.

Shaking her head, Dani pulled a chair up and sat down. "You like it down here?" she looked around, the medlab still made her nervous, too much technology in one antiseptic environment.

He snorted. "What do you think? I hate being within a mile of this house, being in the very bowels is like being in the bowels of hell." Picking up one of the weights again, he began to work the arm that had been in the cast again.

"But if you were upstairs you could be your surly self and see the sun. Even go outside," she wasn't sure about the last part, but even sitting inside and looking out a window was better then being in a windowless basement, however nice and well-equipt, for months on end.

Rolling his eyes, Tommy turned to glare at her. "At your trying to rub it in or what?"

Dani looked at him innocently, "No...I ain't, just trying to make conversation. I figure you gotta be lonely."

Raising an eyebrow, he went back to exercising his arm. "Right, like you really care."

Dani eyed the plate of food that he wasn't eating, it was getting cold, "Is that really so hard to believe?" she asked quietly, "I ain't trying to be your best friend. You've done some terrible things...but you're still a person. You still have needs and wants. And I do care about that."

"Why? I wouldn't give shit about yours...I didn't that night did I? I nothing much has changed except for a lead tree in the park." He ignored both her and the food, keeping his eyes on the weight and his arm.

"Why? Because I'm not you and I believe that all of life is connected..." Dani trailed off seeing Tommy roll his eyes. "It's an Indian thing, you white men don't understand."

"Who cares? It's a mutant spouting it, so I'm not going to listen. Now if you excuse me. I'd like to finish. The sooner I get better the sooner I can figure a way out of this hell hole."

"Right," Dani nodded slowly standing up, "I see how it is. And Forty years ago it was the Blacks and sixty years ago the Jews and a hundred fifty years ago the Indians...you don't care who you hate as long as you can. You just want a scapegoat."

Tommy looked up her with a smile on his face. "I have nothing against you as an Indian, hun. If you were normal, you'd be rather attractive. Mutants are a danger to everyone, including themselves...At least I don't hate blindly." Then he looked down again. "If you don't like to hear it, my door is open."

"So what do you like then?" she asked, ignoring his compliment. Being told she was pretty by Tommy was not exactly the highlight of her day.

"For you to leave me in peace."

Rolling her eyes, Dani sighed and headed out the door, "Fine. Call the kitchen when you've finished eating."

"Will do!" Tommy called cheerily after her, before sighing deeply, and going back to what he was doing.
