xp_logsWednesday afternoon, Alex has a surprise for Lorna.
Alex held onto her shoulders as he guided Lorna through the halls of the mansion. He couldn't contain the smile on his face and he knew it showed in his voice as they got closer to his surprise. "Just a few more feet, I promise. Watch the table on your right!"
Lorna's hands were gripped over Alex's as they walked, trying very hard not to reach up and pull the blindfold off her eyes. She took a step left to avoid the aforementioned table and squeezed his hand. "How am I supposed to watch anything? I can't see!" she complained good-naturedly, wondering what had him in such a state of glee. Her sense of direction was hopelessly muddled and she had no idea where they were in the mansion at this point, though she knew they'd made it down to the first floor, no thanks to the spill she'd nearly taken on the stairwell.
He'd tried to tell her there were stair but had she believed him? Of course not. So finally, Alex let go of her shoulders though kept one of her hands in his as he moved to walk in front her so he could push open the doors to the large sitting room. "Happy Birthday and Happy Thanksgiving love." He said softly as he removed the blindfold.
Lorna blinked and winced at the light then squealed as the room--and the people in it--came into focus. "Mom! Dad! Alex!" She swayed in place, clearly at a loss as to who to hug first, settling on her parents after a single stunned look at her grinning boyfriend. "When did you guys get here? How...what are you doing here?" She threw herself into her mother's arms, pretending like she wasn't crying.
Janice wrapped her arms around her daughter and felt her husband's arms encircle them both. "It was Alex's idea but we wanted to see you. I've been so worried."
Grinning, Alex stayed back, hands in his pockets as he surveyed his work. Mission Accomplished.
