Jan. 19th, 2006 09:34 pmAlison and Lorna take their incoherent email conversation to the airwaves. They're slight more coherent. But not much.
Lorna seized her phone and hit the number five even as she ran downstairs to be outside. She doubted her neighbours would appreciate the noise level that was about to ensue. One ring, two rings...come on, Alison, pick up the damn phone already, this was not the type of thing to be communicated by email!
Alison, arm stretching out under the bed for the phone she'd dropped in her haste to answer, bit her lip and snuck a look towards the room beyond the bedroom door, where she could hear Haruon typing away at his portable. With a final stretch she managed to snag the cellphone and dragged it closer, she hurriedly hit the answer button, bringing it up to her ear while biting her lip. A muffled sound remarkably like a squeal escaped her, though it wasn't loud enough to be overheard by anyone outside the room. "Eeeeee!" she continued, after taking a short breath, trying to keep the sound still low enough not to give herself away. "Eeeeeeeeeeeee!"
"Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!" Lorna happily didn't have to worry about volume now that she was out in the tropical heat. Lili barked up at her, having followed her out and bounded about her heels, bouncing along with Lorna's little jumps of glee. "So he liked it? It's good? He said yes? When? How? What happened? Tell me absolutely everything?"
"He found it!" Alison blurted out the words hurriedly, trying to watch her voice which was getting harder already. "I kept switching the hiding places 'cause I didn't know how to ask and finally I just etched it on the ring and hid it in the bookshelf this morning and of course he'd go poking through it just then and eeeeeeeeeeeee!"
"Aaaah!" It was too perfect. She just couldn’t even begin to deal with the perfection of it. "So what did he say? What did you say? When's the wedding?" Lorna spun in a circle on the grass and grinned at a passing couple.
"I babbled! He was teasing me! He woke me up wearing it and I fell off the bed and he said yes and eeee!" Alison paused to take a breath, sneaking another look towards the doorway - there would be serious pouncing of Haroun as soon as this call was done, she decided, but she still wanted to glee at Lorna just a little bit longer. "I don't know yet and we'll figure it out later and I think he liked the ring a lot," she babbled on, as it was important to let one of the crafters of said ring know this, "and we spent the day together and eeeee!"
"Of course he liked the ring!" Lorna said, indulging in another bounce of glee, "Nate and I do superior work. "You feel off the bed? Seriously? Oh, God." She dissolved into giggles.
"I didn't mean to!" Indignacy happened fairly quickly even if one was busy squeeing like a five years old, apparently. "The blankets conspired against me!" Alison's expression and tone of voice changed in heartbeat from pouty to sappy. "It's perfect. He said yes! Though I had to check and make sure but he was wearing the ring so that was a yes, there, right? Yes!"
"That's totally a yes!" Lorna confirmed. "This is so cool! You need to decide when and where you're having the wedding so I can start planning the food and stuff. I have Ideas with a capital I and everything."
It was, in Alison's estimate, far too early to think of the actual wedding. Just the ring making it to the intended recipient was big
enough already, after all. "Mmm! Okay! But I need to go pounce on Haroun now so we'll talk about next time and eeeee? EEE! Okay? 'kay!
Bye now!"
Lorna barely got out a 'good-bye' before her phone chimed to let her know the signal had been cut. Shaking her head, she smiled at the screen, happy for her friend. Her own ring glinted as she closed the phone.
