Angelo spots Jane in DC but it turns out she's just not in the mood and he just doesn't care enough.

It was just routine business for Nathan that had brought Angelo to DC - nothing especially difficult to handle, even if he might be gone for a couple of days when you included driving time. So, now, he was sitting outside a coffee shop with Joyita, having a drink before he started back.

Jane, walking down the road, was engrossed in an argument with her companion, paying no attention to her surroundings. The man walking with her was young, and seemed to be defering to her, agreeing with her, but in a way which clearly said that, while he wasn't going to argue with her, he wasn't actually agreeing, either.

Angelo glanced up from his newspaper casually, abandoning it in favour of watching the world go by. And spotted Jean immediately, freezing in... not quite shock, but not knowing how to react.

Dammit. That unmistakable flash of recognition. If it wasn't occasionally such fun to play with these people she would just give up and move to France or something. Turning her head in the direction the flash had come from, it was easy to pick Angelo out of the crowd.

She let the recognition show on her face, then turned back to her companion and continued down the road. He wasn't worth her time, and she wanted him to know it.

Angelo frowned, considering whether to just leave her alone. But then, when had he ever done what was expected, in situations like this? "Dr Grey!"

Jane stopped and turned, meeting Angelo's eyes and arching an eyebrow. Still several steps away and making no move to come closer and make the conversation more private she said, "Yes?"

"Just wanted to ask how you were doin'", he said casually, leaning back in his chair.

Jane arched an eyebrow, then shrugged. "Fine," she said, turning away again to continue down the road.

He was in an awkward mood, apparently... and he liked Scott more than her right now, so maybe he was being deliberately difficult. "That all I get?"

This time Jane didn't even stop - if he wanted this he was going to have to work for it. "Yep," she called back over her shoulder.

He considered this for a moment, then sat back in his chair with a shrug, picking his newspaper back up. Didn't seem worth the effort, for someone he really barely knew.
