Wanda stops by, with food in tow, to visit Amanda but gets Remy, instead. They chat a bit before she lets it spill that she's left the X-Men and gets a surprising offer.

"Pizza delivery!" Wanda sang out, nudging the doorbell with an elbow, shifting her burden in her arms just a tad as the heat soaked through the boxes. Her arms also ached slightly from being slammed down onto the jungle floor the other day. "No, really." Having promised Amanda food and company at one point, she'd decided to do one better and bring enough that would feed the rest of the people there as well. She might as well when two of them had come to rescue her drugged behind.

Remy looked up at the sound and scowled, pulling his cane off the table and limping down the stairs. The pain in his leg had gotten bad enough that he'd given up trying to work on the brownstone, instead settling in at the table with his leg up and reading through some files Wisdom had sent over.

He reached the door and hit the buzzer with the end of his cane. Frost's doorman hadn't made an appearance yet, so they where in charge of the front. The front door clicked open and Wanda staggered in. Remy didn't bother to try and help with the boxes. With his limp, it wasn't really possible in any case.

"You look incredibly cheerful, Remy," she said, sliding the food onto the nearest table. "Too many paint fumes? Though I am sorry to have made you get the door, I told Amanda I was coming over with food."

Remy ignored the comment, only to mentally promise that he was going to make Wisdom eat the damn book of wallpaper samples he'd had specially delivered to 'Miss LeBeau'. "She's at de office. Getting her work area set up or something. Think she was going to drop by you boyfriend's to steal his library too."

At that, Wanda snorted softly. "She will need a truck if she's successful, though if she takes enough I might just be able to find space for the new ones he purchased. How are things going here, though?" From what she had seen from Pete's post, and talking a little with Betsy and Amanda, this entire set up was...interesting.

"Here specifically, dey suck. But dey finally got de office set up, and our contacts are just starting to report in. As soon as de rest of dem stop hiding and dis place gets finished, we're in business." Remy sighed as he leaned against the table, taking the pressure off his leg.

"Do you want to go sit and eat?" Wanda asked. "It sounds like things are rolling quite nicely here. If it wasn't for Betsy and Amanda coming to help Stephen and myself, it would have been much messier than it turned out."

"I try to avoid sitting." Remy said, although he flipped open a box and helped himself to a slice. "'manda filled me in on de details. Sounds like de did de job clean. Dat's what we need to do. Clean jobs. In and out like a prom date wit' no one knowing."

"Well, that sounds like fun." It was obvious from her tone that she really hadn't been kidding. "Interesting on a different level than what the X-Men have been doing. Not that I've really been active since my sudden case of being possessed and time off."

"Wisdom's idea is dat a small unit can get in and out of places anoynmously. Start going after de people dat are basically untouchable otherwise. Anyone big enough to be a problem knows dat dere's a link between de X-Men and de Professor. Dat means one day, de X-Men aren't going to be able to do something dat needs doing." Remy took a large bite and chewed thoughtfully. "On de other hand, we can operate invisibly. No uniforms, no big jet, no evidence."

Wanda blinked at him and crossed her arms. "That...makes an awful lot of sense," she said slowly. "Much more streamlined as well. The X-Men do very good things but, yes, there are things that are sometimes very much out of their realm." She'd just run into something like that.

Remy shrugged. He doubted that his opinion that he just didn't actually trust the Professor any longer was going to be agreed with in any case. "All dat I know is dat eventually de connection between de school and de X-Men is bound to get out. One really good reporter, or one enemy wit' a grudge and an ounce of brains and Xavier left wit' a lot of uncomfortable questions."

He helped himself to another slice. "On de other hand, Wisdom and I all sorts of bastards dat used to operating on dis level. Might as well focus on our, what de term, true calling, neh?"

"Ignoring a true calling is simply a shame," Wanda agreed. "I will actually be up this way more often. I will be returning to the X-Men and it's past time that I started working on my doctorate, which I can do in the city. I'm not used to being at one place, without extensive travel, for this long, so it was time for a change up."

"Had you figured for a leather lifer, chere. Why de indecision?" Remy said, putting down his pizza and giving her a considering look.

"Being possessed by Chthon opened my eyes a great deal," she responded, thinking things through. There was an eery black hole from the encounter with Cyttorak which certainly cemeted her decision to go down this path. She never wanted to be in that position again, not without more knowledge. "It took away the thing I value the most—my freedom. When I found out that there were people helping things like that out, it made my focus shift from X-Men missions to something a little more off the beaten path. Having my doctorate is one path to that, information is power and it will open up a great of doors depending on how I want to pursue things."

"And how do you feel 'bout having to do illegal things to be able to step on dere necks sometimes?" Remy's tone was casual, but his mismatched eyes had gone sharp and calculating.

At that, Wanda looked interested. "I helped break a prisoner out of transport just a short while ago," she mused but it wasn't a light tone that she took. "I do not think I'd worry too much about it if the end results ended with people like that being taken out of power. I have my own set of morals but sometimes legality and they are not on the same level."

"Hmm." Remy made a non-commital noise, fiddling with his cane. "Dat is something dat you did, oui. So, you looking for a job?"

Looking around, Wanda certainly looked intrigued. "It would certainly be easier to follow up on the doctorate idea from up here," she said to herself. And she knew it was only a small group that had been set up here, something that appealed to her while making her realize they probably did need the extra hand. "You know, that is a very tempting idea. Enough so that I think I'll take you up on it." Most of her biggest decisions, she thought ruefully, had been made this quickly…college, Cambridge and the X-Men.

"Good. I'm sure dere's supposed to be some kind of process or paperwork, but I also really don't care. I'm sure dat Emma end up making you de team emperour or something." Remy shook his head and pushed himself off the table. "Unfortunately, dat means you'll have to lose de leathers. Pity, dat."

At that, she smirked, following him as he wandered further into the place. "That is a pity but something that can be replaced," she said lightly, taking in everything in a new light. "And I think I can handle being team emperour..."

Whatever this was going to end up, it was going to be fun.
