Crystal and Dani - Backdated to Friday
Jun. 16th, 2006 03:00 pmCrystal's screams upon seeing a murder in the sunroom draw Dani's attention.
Crystal screamed, unable to believe what she had just seen. As he turned around, she stepped back and held out her hands in warning. "No, get back! Stay back!" He ignored her and continued walking towards her. "I'm warning you..." Seeing that her pleas were going unanswered, Crystal closed her eyes and sent forth a blast of air, not enough to seriously hurt him, just enough to stop and make him think. Her eyes opened and she gasped: unfazed, he continued walking straight towards her. I'm sorry, I have no choice. I cannot let that happen to me. Crystal took a deep breath and released it, simultaneously letting loose a forceful wind intended to knock the boy off his feet. Her face took on a mixture of surprise and horror when, instead of simply moving back and falling down, the boy dissolved into some sort of ooze. Once again, Crystal let out a scream.
Dani sprinted from the kitchen when she heard the scream, her frybread batter forgotten on the counter. Someone would clean it up after the current crisis was over. Skidding to a halt in the doorway to the sunroom, Dani saw Crystal standing in the center of the room looking as if she had been attacked, even though she was alone. "What happened?" she asked, not bothering to ask how the girl was. She looked petrified.
Crystal whirled around on the balls of her feet, her hands still raised in a defensive postion. "He killed Laurie!" she practically shrieked. "He touched Laurie and she... she turned into dust!"
"Who?" Dani looked around the empty room, "Who is 'he?'" there was only one door in or out of the sunroom and Dani hadn't seen anyone exit the room in any direction when she was running down the hall. If there was someone attack, and killing, students, then the X-Men needed to know.
"Kevin! I told him to stay away but he wouldn't! I.. I tried to keep him away and he turned into some sort of slime!" Crystal's voice was shrill and panicky and a few pieces of paper circled around her as if caught in a breeze.
"Kevin never left this room...and he can't turn into slime..." or could he? Bending down slightly Dani hugged Crystal gently, "We need to call Dr. MacTaggert. Immediately."
Crystal was still shaken. "Why? Are you sure? What if my air blast turned him into ooze? It couldn't have been strong enough, but if he can't..." she said in an almost-whisper, her voice trailing off at the end.
Hugging Crystal carefully, she tried to calm her down, "Remember the weird happenings that have been going on?" she said disengaging from Crystal as she felt her powers begin to kick in. Forcefully she tried to will them dormant for the moment. "I think that's what you saw."
”No, not really,” Crystal admitted. Although she had noticed that people seemed a bit more talkative about others, she had assumed this was simply one of the “normal” weird things that occurred at the mansion. After all, she had no idea whether or not it was normal for people to run around the school wearing spandex. Crystal discovered that at this particular moment in time, she really didn't want to be left alone. "May I come with you?" she questioned, still not trusting that what she has seen was just a vision.
Well, hell, Dani cursed mentally. While she could understand the girls fears, this was not the time for a shadow. "Of course," she said, leading her out of the room and towards her office. "I'm going to call from my office. You know what I do, right?"
"You're the school's administrative assistant," Crystal replied, recalling Dani's post to her journal. Plus you're one of the seemingly hundreds of people around her who adore cooking.
"Yes, but not what I meant," Dani explained as they headed down the hall, "I see people's fears. I can see what scared you, if you let me. Replay it too, if you want. I see things...and these visions that keep appearing, they can't hurt you. That's one thing I've had to learn the hard way, you can't be scared of what is not real."
