The Rictor Effect - Marie and Julio
Jul. 5th, 2006 03:42 pmMarie takes care of one last thing before she goes to help with the clean-up.
Marie had raced back to Julio, relieved to find him in the exact spot she had left him. Thank goodness Kurt looked after him…but he needs to get out of here now. Scooping him up, she cradled him gently. He looked so innocent with his eyes closed, but she knew that now there would be something different in them when he woke up. The same thing that had changed in hers those years ago on top of the Statue.
“Ah will stop him.” She doubted he could hear her, but what she said was more for herself than for him. Lifting off, she made every effort to fly smoothly so as not to disturb the boy. He stirred a few time, mumbling in Spanish, but remained blissfully unconscious for the entire trip to the Blackbird. Gently setting Julio in a seat, she fastened him in securely. “Take good care of him,” she said to Sam, then left abruptly before he could comment on her appearance. The boy was safe now and that was all that was important.
Days later, Julio would try to thank the girl with the streak in her hair, only to realize he didn't even know her name.
