Kurt, in the triage tents
Jul. 5th, 2006 11:01 pmHe'd slipped away, after Haller was checked over and taken to the plane, when the focus was still on the unconscious psi. To the tents where the wounded were being cared for until the ambulances could reach them.
He'd never seen anything quite like this before, not on this scale. Burns, he found here, and the victims of broken bones and crush injuries and almost every other kind of wound that could be thought of. Some would recover. Some would live. Some wouldn't.
And, with a word of comfort here and a squeezed hand there, the little good he could do in this place, Kurt walked among them, rosary in hand, with only one thing running through his mind.
Omnipotens sempiterne Deus, salus aeterna credentium, exaudi nos pro infirmo famulo tuum pro quo misericordiae tuae imploramus auxilium: tibi in Ecclesia tua referat actiones.
Per Christum Dominum nostrum.
Amen.
