After Wanda arrives at the scene, she finds herself having to gently fend off a reporter who wants to put some of the people helping in an article.
"Miss?"
Wanda glanced up and stifled an irritated sigh at the hopeful look a young, dirty looking reporter was giving her. She turned her head back down and spoke rapidly but softly with the twin girls, neither of whom spoke much English.
"~They just found your father,~" she said, smiling when the one stopped crying to look up at her with hope filled eyes. "~If you stay with this nice police officer, they will bring him to you.~"
The girls looked at the young man making his way over to them and then back at Wanda. "~Are you sure he's nice?~" the one blurted out, clutching a beaten up teddy bear.
"~He is very nice, I promise you. And I heard some of his friends saying if you poke him just so--~" Wanda demonstrated on the quieter girl, getting a tired laugh as a result. "~He laughs.~"
"~Really?~" The girls exchanged glances and after that it wasn't so hard to convince them to go to the shelter near by and wait for their reunion there.
Turning, she ignored the reporter and Wanda headed back into the crowd.
"Could I get at least a few words and your name?" he pleaded, tagging along.
Wanda frowned. She was trying her best to avoid any cameras and getting quoted with her name in anything. Stay out of sight but help, that was her game plan.
Glancing over her shoulder, she shrugged at him. "~I'm sorry, I don't speak English.~"
Despite him not understanding the language she spoke to him in, it was clear he got some of her meaning from her body language. "Could you say that in English?" he joked weakly.
"I'm sorry, I don't speak English." Rough up the accent a little bit and maybe he'd...
He frowned. "But I heard you speaking to the police officer before you went to the girls...and, hey, you're speaking English now..."
Wanda sighed. "No, I only know how to say, 'I don't speak English' in English."
The man was apparently far too confused to follow her any further and it was with great relief that she was able to slip into the crowd.
