Rogue is asked to participate in a rather unusual rescue.

"You want me to do what?" Marie rubbed her bleary eyes and stared incomprehensibly at the man standing in front of her who was babbling at a speed she just could not process. It had been too long since she last slept, brushed her teeth or showered. Suddenly, one of his words rose to her consciousness like a neon flag and she began shaking him. "A killer? Where? Calm down, explain things real slow." She was rewarded by a dumbfounded look, and then he shook his head. "No no, a killer whale. The tank was cracked by the quake and the water is leaking out and he’s not gonna make it and I saw you lifting those huge rocks so I thought maybe you could lift him too." If Marie’s hair hadn’t already been through enough, she would have started pulling it out. First of all, that was not slow. Second, all the people that needed help in the city and this guy wanted her help with an animal? She was about to tell him to go straight to hell and return to helping people when she felt something tug on her sweatshirt. Looking down, she immediately saw wide chocolate brown eyes brimming with tears. "You can save Shamu can’t you?"

Crap.

Kneeling so she was face to face with the little girl, she brushed a hand over matted ringlets. "Of course Ah can sugah." A dimpled smile was the child’s reply and then Rogue was lead to the tank. After a few frantic phone calls, she was given directions to another facility that had agreed to take the whale.

Eyeing Shamu warily, Rogue walked in a slow circle around him as the vet tech assured her that he was heavily sedated and would not start squirming around during the flight. It took a few moments for her to finally get a hold of the whale, but she managed eventually. Not too bad Marie thought to herself as she lifted the black and white beast above her head. Bending her knees, she pushed off and began the trek, never noticing the camera that followed her every movement.
