Remy and Betsy discuss their options about locating one mutant amongst the devastation.

Betsy stood within the doorway to Remy's office, leaning against the frame. "Having a day of it, then?" In all actuality, she was the one that felt twitchy. But looking at his desk, a scattering of files and loose bits of paper, she knew she wasn't the only one feeling off-kilter. Forcing herself to school in her expression, Betsy smiled as she shifted her stance. Not one of the team's encounters with Magneto had ever gone smoothly and to think about David and the others.

"Decided dat impotant rage and worry was going to be de focus of de day." Remy said, motioning her to a seat while he rustled up a second coffee mug. The office had gone quiet over the events in San Diego, left to muted conversations between those still around. Remy filled both mugs, and handed one to Betsy. "I, uh, still haven't heard back from Lorna."

"I still haven't heard from..." Betsy caught herself. "From anyone." She took the mug and palmed protectively within her hands. "Thank you. It's never been easy waiting, has it? It's odd. I don't think I've ever been cognizant enough to realize how it must have felt for everyone else."

"Never had anyone else to worry 'bout, myself." Remy sighed as he sat back down. He took a gulp from the mug and sat with it lightly balanced on his thigh. "An earthquake and a tidal wave. How de hell could Magneto have got dat together? You seen dese estimates? It's like he broke de back of dat city."

"I feel nauseous," Betsy said abruptly, looking down and away from him. She'd seen the reports. The devastation was immense. "We could've done something. Helped in some way. Instead of being here." Her hands tighten against the ceramic, refusing to look up from the dark pool of liquid within it. If she looked up, Betsy would regret it. Everything was clear on her face and at the moment, she wouldn't be able to deny anything. And at the moment, she wanted to deny it all.

"Non, we couldn't." Remy said, surprisingly forcefully. "Betts, you know as well as I do dat dis kind of thing is what de X-Men are for. Dey got de raw power and de training to help best right now."

He set the mug down on the desk and leaned over. "What we need to do is follow dis up. Once de rest of de world gets over de shock, dey going to be calling for Magneto's head on a stick, and maybe any other mutant dey can get dere hands on. If he just gets away wit' dis, it's going to come down on de rest of us even harder."

"You're absolutely right," Betsy said with grainy resolve. We both know he'll go into hiding and fast. There's always been a limited window once he's gone under." Trusting herself to look up, Betsy placed her right hand on top of Remy's. "She'll be fine, you know. Lorna's always been too stubborn for her own good when it comes to these things."

"Dat's de part dat worries me. Especially with a chance at Magneto." He didn't bother to add that when the day came that they finally got a shot at Magneto, Remy wasn't going to let him get away, even if it meant taking him all the way out. He'd even priced non-ferrous rounds for a sniper rifle once.

"How do we got 'bout getting Magneto? Pete's somewhere around here. What do we bring in to start tracking him now? Wit' de rest of de team working wit' de X-Men, we might as well make use of the time, neh?"

"Taps," Betsy said, leaning forward with a keen light glittering against the dark set of her amythest eyes. "We could listen in on any and all leads the local authorities pick up. Even the federal sort. They definitely have more coverage and I absolutely doubt they'll know their mutants from their wankers, let alone what would stick out. But I think we're more than capable to find a few breadcrumbs from one magnetically-charged mutant," Betsy said with a surly set to her lips. Her hands fisted against her lap. "Besides, I'm properly motivated to catch this bastard and make sure he rots away for good."

"I like it. Remy got a couple of contects in de NSA. Dey all going to be furious. Maybe dey might have something." Remy tapped his desk. "What about old locations? We know dat he likes to use Xavier's name on his land purchases."

"There's only a few locations that'll work in, mostly foreign." Betsy said with a hard set line on her face. "It'll be a great deal harder to find him if he goes out of the country. Big as this place may be, we'd get more luck finding him within the United States. Outside these borders, he has allies. Many of them built over the years and they have a clue about who's looking for whom and how to hide from them." From us.

"Assuming he's dumb enough to stay inside the country after dis. Even he's got to know what kind of a shitstorm he's set off wit' dis own." Remy said. "As bad as dis might get for us, it will be even more intense for him."

"Granted," Betsy said, nervously. "Magnus has the dastardly tendency to do what isn't expected of him. I wouldn't be surprised if he did stay within the northern hemisphere until things calmed down. Regardless, we'll have to do worldwide focus on various agencies to try and pick up a trail. I don't like how far that'll stretch our resources, but if its' all we're working with...I guess nothing else can be done."

"Until we find him. Den we cut off both his arms and find out how well he can magnetic dem out of his own ass." Remy said darkly. Magneto's involvement in Lorna's capture last year and Remy's own subsequent crippling wasn't lost on her.

"Rem," Betsy started, feeling her concern grow. She thought of a world of things to say to him but eventually choosing silence. Betsy faced the Cajun with a grim and determined smile, all the acknowledgement she'd allow for now.
