Crystal and Medusa - Sunday
Jul. 16th, 2006 07:08 pmCrystal arrives home.
Medusa held her arms open when she saw her sister walk off the plane. "Crystal!" she called out, excited to see her after over a month of separation. As she wrapped Crystal in a hug, her hair also added to the embrace. "How was the flight?"
Crystal smiled as she saw her sister and returned her hug. "It was a smooth flight," she said. "How have you been? Did you miss me?"
"I have been well. And of course I missed you," Medusa said with a smile as she kept one arm across her sister's shoulder. "I know the family is anxious to see you. You didn't say much about why you were coming home, is everything ok?" The two girls settled into a nearby golf cart and began the drive to the main palace grounds.
"Everything is fine," Crystal replied. "It's just that a lot of people seemed to be leaving, so I thought I would take their cue. Also, I was in San Diego after the earthquake a couple of weeks ago and I stayed there a bit longer than I had expected. In addition, while I was there, I'm not quite sure what happened, but apparently I used my power to the extent that it disappeared and I fell from the sky."
It took all Medusa's willpower to keep the cart from going off the paved path. "You went where? And your powers? Oh that's horrible Crystal! No powers? How did you not tell us about this?" She glanced concernedly at her sister out of the corner of her eye. "Maybe we can figure out a way to fix your powers. And how did you survive the fall?"
Crystal gave her sister a puzzled look. "No! I have my powers, they just...went away. But they came back. As to the fall, I was lucky. A teleporter was watching and saved me."
"I am glad you were not hurt, but you should not have been in San Diego in the first place," Medusa scolded. "Especially without telling us. What if the press had gotten footage of that? You were very lucky indeed. "Her hair was whipping around her in an agitated state. "Do you plan on telling mother and father?"
"It happened so quickly," Crystal said in a small voice. "There was an earthquake, they were looking for volunteers, so I went. It seemed like the right thing to do, I just didn't plan on being there for so long and I figured it was a good way to apply real use to my powers."
A tendril of hair snaked over and squeezed the younger girl's shoulder consolingly. "It was a very brave and noble action to take and I am proud of you for finding a practical application of your powers. I just wish you had informed us, or at least me, that you were doing so. A phone call or email would not have taken long."
Crystal looked stricken. "I was not sure how you, mother and father, and the rest of the family would feel about it," she admitted. "I was not sure that you would want me to go. There were others from the school there, so I wasn't entirely by myself."
"I just worry about you. We all do. You are our little Crystal and it is hard to remember sometimes that you are not so little anymore." Medusa thought a moment before continuing. "Perhaps we should keep your little adventure to ourselves. What is one more secret between sisters?"
Crystal nodded, looking relieved. "The effect was only temporary, so there is no need to worry them needlessly," she agreed.
