Set last Thursday after Dani and Forge fought. Dani wants to get away before she does something stupid and Marie goes with her for fun.

"Ugh!" Dani growled, practically throwing her laptop to the other side of the couch, "Hetanéka'êškóneho!" she said loudly, almost running into her room to change clothes. She continued to mutter in Cheyenne under her breath as she tossed t-shirts out of her dresser until she found a decent one put on.

Marie had just stepped out of the shower after a rather vigorous workout when she heard a rather loud exclamation from the suite's main room. Securing her robe tightly, she opened the door to her room and peeked her head out. "Dani? Is that you?"

"Heehe'e!" she called back, forgetting to switch back to English, "Sorry, yeah." Quickly she ran a brush through her hair and headed back to the living room. "Let's go out."

Huh? Marie walked across to Dani's room and leaned against the doorframe, staring at her roommates as if she'd grown horns and a tail. "You wanna do what?"

"Go. Out." she said slowly as if talking to an unusually slow child. "Away from the school," and from the computers and Forge.

"Oh. Harry's for a drink?" she asked. "Just let me throw on some clothes." She was worried that her normally calm roommate was so obviously agitated.

"Whatever," Dani wasn't picky. Retreating back into her room to find her shoes, she reemerged ready to go. Forge had really hit a nerve tonight. "You checked the journals since you came back?" she asked, leaning on the door frame of Rogue's room.

"Yeah, been watching them a bit. New girl seems…bouncy." She shook her head with a smile. "And Julio thinkin' he could have a girl in his room overnight. Kids." She turned to face Dani as she pulled a shirt on over her head. "But then Ah went for a run, haven't since Ah got back…did Ah miss somethin'?"

"Yeah, you missed Forge basically shoving his entire head and torso up his ass," as a rule, Dani generally did not curse. She was more likely to rant in Cheyenne unconsciously than to curse. It was a good indicator of how angry she was. "I don't feel like I'm going to lose control, unless you count going down to Forge's lab and screaming at him."

Marie wrinkled her brow as she slipped on a pair of low heels. "Come on, let's get you outta here before you do anything like that." Pulling on her gloves, she smiled at her roommate and hoped that a sudden idea would help distract Dani. "Wanna lift over there? Leave the cars behind?"

Pondering the idea for a moment, she nodded and went to grab a hoodie. No sense in taking chances, "Don't drink and fly?" she quipped as they headed outside.

After the pair had made their way outside the mansion, Marie looked carefully one way and then the other. "Here, put your arm over my shoulder," she said as she did the same to Dani and then very carefully lifted off the ground and headed to Harry's.

Dani had only flown in an airplane once before and never like this. Despite her anger she grinned like a goofy kid all the way to Harry's and didn't want to land when they got there. "Like an owl on the wind!" she commented, eyes sparkling in the streetlight. "That was amazing!"

Grinning back, Marie's face lit up. "Ain't it grand?" After she landed, she brushed a windswept lock of hair out of her eyes and then walked into the bar. "Ah never feel as free as when Ah'm in the air," she told Dani.

"Like a bird on the wind. No constraints," Dani agreed, trying to comb her hair with her fingers. It was a little wind-swept, "You know why Forge makes me so mad?" without waiting for an answer, Dani pushed the door to Harry's open and strode in, "Because he knows every button to push."

"What happened?" she asked, settling onto a barstool and signaling the bartender to come over. "Mai tai for me, Shirley temple for my friend."

Taking a relaxing breath she rehashed their journal comments, insult by insult and finsihed it with, "He's pissed off at me, but I ain't got a clue why. It ain't from anything tonight, but I ain't talked to him really in at least a month. I thought maybe I was being a workaholic recluse again...but I don't think so. He's mad at me. And for whatever reason he don't want to talk about it."

"Have you tried asking him?" Marie inquired, carefully studying Dani's reaction. She didn't want to upset the girl further, but she felt like she was missing something.

"I was gonna tonight," she defended herself, absently slurping her drink, "I ain't noticed anything until now! You know I've been....avoiding people. Working on control. But we're both mad now, it ain't the time."

She raised an eyebrow as she took a small sip of her drink. "Tonight definitely isn't the time. Ah just wonder how you both got so mad without either of ya talkin' first." She thought someone had told her that Dani and Forge were fairly close, but it sure hadn't seemed like it since her return to the school.

"Before tonight, I wasn't mad! He's been busy with Marius and leather-stuff, I've been doing more school stuff with Mr. Summers gone and whatnot, I just ain't noticed!" Dani sat almost perfectly still and kept her voice low, she was not going to make a scene over this. Especially not in public. "I ain't ever gonna be as smart as him, ain't it? I ain't ever gonna save the world, and I don't need to! But he makes it sound like I'm stupid and useless."

"Not everyone needs to be out savin' the world. Someone's gotta be home so there's a home for us to come back ta." She turned to face Dani, the corners of her mouth twitching down. "You aren't stupid or useless and Ah think you know that. If Forge said that, then he deserves to be smacked."

Dani gestured grandly towards the door, "Be my guest."

Marie took another sip of her drink and remained firmly seated. "Let's see if you still want that done tomorrow. For tonight, we're out, how 'bout we have a bit of fun." Finally hoping up, she weaved between patrons and tables until she reached the jukebox. Tossing in several quarters, she carefully picked a series of songs. "Ah know you know this one."

A few bars into the song Dani smiled, "Johnny Cash, good choice," she nodded appreciatively to the song for a few minutes before continuing, "Walk the Line is a good song. Learn from him."

"Ah am a woman of taste," Marie said, smiling at the younger woman. "But wait 'till the next one. It's a sing along." Her eyes twinkled as the first few strains of "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy" came out of the speakers.

"Oh now that is dancing music!" Jumping up, Dani tried to drag a reluctant Marie out to the make-shift dance floor. She wasn't normally a fan of newer country msuic, but this song was made to be danced to!

"Ah need about twenty more drinks in me 'fore Ah cut up the floor." At least, that was the excuse Marie gave. "But he," she winked at one of the younger patrons who was watching both of the women appreciatively "looks like he wants to dance."

Dani blushed, looking over her shoulder at the guy in question, not too bad. "I dunno, he's ain't my type," she protested. She'd never even intentionally flirted with a white guy before. "I think he's looking at you!"

Marie smiled, glad that her roommate seemed to finally be at least a little distracted. "Nah sugah, he's all yours if you want him." She wasn't going to push Dani to dance with the guy, but he had already served a purpose and she wanted to keep Dani off balance and not thinking about Forge. Tapping her toe, Marie sang along to the song quietly.

"Why not?" she asked rhetorically, flipping her long hair behind her shoulders and heading over to the guy. "Ain't like I belong to anyone!"

Marie watched the pair dance for a few minutes before making her way back to the bar to snag a glass of water. Dani's words had struck a chord...did she belong to someone? She had a feeling she needed to have a conversation with Doug and it wasn't one she was looking forward to. She walked over to a table with a good view of the the space being utilized as a dance floor and settled into her seat, careful to keep a smile on her face.
