Angel's out getting even more pictures while Sam's having a bit of a flight around the mansion. Which is a good thing since gravity decides to try and become very friendly with Angel and a new aspect of her powers emerges. For a second.
With sunset fast approaching and to make up for being away for a few days, Angel made sure she was on the fliers' platform with plenty of time to spare. There would be no better place then to get pictures like that then where she was. With the tripod set up perfectly, Angel glanced around, shielding her eyes though she waved when she spotted Mr. Guthrie flying around.
Sam smiled as he spotted Angel setting up on the platform. The irrepressible redhead had been a wonderful addition to the mansion. Along with Julio and Kyle, she made a sort of close-knit Three Musketeers group. The Wizard of Oz theme, with Forge dragooned into being the tin man, had been worth more than a few smiles. He doubted she'd be able to see him wave back through his blast field, so he did a barrel roll with a grin.
That got a laugh from her and she watched in envy as he easily flew around. "What I wouldn't give," she muttered softly, turning back to her equipment. Maybe she could get a few shots of Mr. G in, now that would be...
Angel's train of thought was suddenly derailed when she realized her foot was no longer on the platform. Everything would have been fine had the roof underneath, and her shoes, not been slippery from the day's rain. And before she could do much more then flail, she found her foot giving way, throwing her off balance. There was a brief moment of pain as she hit the slope and then her stomach dropped when there was simply air around her.
Sam's stomach dropped at the sight of Angel rolling off the roof. His first thought was "not again", as he remembered catching Shiro in almost exactly the same situation. Pulling through a hard turn, he roared down parallel to the mansion, just as he had with Shiro...
Only to go whizzing underneath her and miss her completely. He turned as tight as he could, his mouth bitter in horror.
Only vaguely aware of the attempted rescue, Angel fought down panic and fright as best she could, trying to remember the best way to land for a fall like this.
'Oh god oh god oh god I'm falling, I'm falling, I'm going to die. I'm going to splat like a giant bug and I'm so going to die and Mr. Marko's going to kill me for the hole I put in the ground and I'm falling I'm...'
There was a rumble of fire through her veins and her eyes popped open. Maybe it would soften the impact by burning the ground to ashes...only she wasn't falling anymore. Instead, she was staring at the side of the mansion, nearly upside down.
'....I'm not falling. I'm not falling? Wait, I'm not falling! I'm flying! Hovering! I'm flying!' And the second she realized it, her powers cut out again, sending her screeching back down to the ground.
'Falling!'
Seeing Angel hovering in midair caused Sam to offer up a quick prayer of thanks to the Almighty for watching over her. The time spent hovering enabled him to cut through his turn, and this time when
she began falling, he was able to catch her under the armpits while his blast field was out, and then soar out and away from the mansion.
"Y'all are gonna be the death of me," he yelled over the roar of his powers.
"Death bad!" Angel squeaked, curling up her legs instinctively, though she was in no danger of hitting anything with them. "Oh my God, I think I like aged ten years! I'm old now! Just...aaaaaahhh."
Sam kept his arms tight around the young girl until they were safely on the ground. Letting her go, he sighed in relief. "Ah swear, at this rate Ah'm gonna have Cain put a railin' on that platform or somethin'."
As soon as her feet touched the ground, Angel did her best puddle impression. Clutching at her heart, she tried to breath normally. "Maybe a catch net?" she asked, voice a bit strangled. "I fell off a roof and oh my God, did I fly? Hover? Flying hover thing?"
"Somethin' for safety, at least," Sam replied. "At this rate y'all are gonna give me gray hairs." He paused to calm his breathing. "An' yeah, ya did hover for a second there, which is a good thing, since it gave me time ta catch ya." He pointed a somewhat stern finger at Angel. "Powered flight class," he instructed her.
She squeaked at him, still in shock. "Me? Flight class?" She blinked. "Oohhh. Oohhh." She threw her hands up in the air. "I can fly!" she shouted gleefully. "...though will I get in trouble for falling off the roof?"
"Only if ya fall off the roof again," Sam said gently, his stern demeanor evaporating in the face of Angel's exuberance. "But for powered flight class, we're startin' on the -ground-, where it's safer if things go wrong."
"Do I get a parachute?"
