In the interests of keeping my insides on my insides, I'm going to attend the formal. Doesn't mean I'm going to enjoy it. Welcome to help me establish a Go Away Corner or something.
On the brighter side, though, there are a few things that we can do, in the event that Selene's not throwing a bash. Unlikely that she won't, but just in case..
December 24th, 8pm - Boobs! The Musical - Producer Club II (NYC). The word 'bawdy' is involved. Also, 'boobs'.
December 27th, 8pm - Dave Attel and Lewis Black - Westbury Music Fair. Angry comics could be fun. I imagine they'd encourage the "Bah, humbug" sentiment.
December 24th, 10pm - Get F**cked - The Cock (NYC). Excuses to be vulgar. Dance club, but judging by the name, possibly tolerable.
There's also that Metal/Punk Karaoke thing I mentioned, but I'm having a hell of a time finding it again. I'll keep looking.

Do I _look_ like the kind of person who belongs at a semi-formal dance? I think I'll go visit home Friday night. Georgie's is close, if I remember correctly.
While the first one sounds interesting, Shinobi, I've seen the way you react to boobs, and I don't think you want to melt into an embarassed puddle like that in public. Maybe later.
The second two sound great. Jono, do you have a preference?

And here I thought my melting into an embarassed puddle in public might amuse the pair of you.

I'm all for the last two. I'm all for anything that gets me out of this joyous environment.

Well, hell, then, let's find ourselves a car and do them both.
I'll commence with the puppy dog eyes in Alison's direction, as far as letting us out of the school for a few hours on Christmas Eve is concerned - arguing that the break from the ho-ho-ho will do us all some good would help.
