Jennie decides to watch a movie with her tiniest suitemate, and makes her cry. This is a good thing, no really.

"Okay, so this shouldn't be too hard to follow. I mean, they're muppets. This is like the one that's all pop-cultury, but it's all about Gonzo, and I think you could get into it," Jennie said as she popped open the DVD case and knelt down in front of the player in their common area. Marius had finally talked to her, and Jennie felt that Yvette might now need something fluffy and fun.

And a reminder of the fact that there was some semblance of normalcy in this world.

Yvette, curled up on the couch with Kevlar Piglet in her lap, nodded enthusiastically. "I am knowing the Muppets, yes," she said, her soft voice eager. "Mondo, he is watching the Sesame Street with me. It is being for the small children, but I am liking Kermit the Frog. He is being funny when he is waving his arms."

"Ah, yes. These are the rest of the muppets. It's Kermit's friends. It's like how Kyle sometimes'll hang with the little kids, but then he's got the rest of us who are his real friends. But Kyle would be more akin to Animal than Kermit. Um, anyway." Jennie flopped down on the couch next to Yvette. She picked up the remote and hit play. "I loved the muppets when I was a kid, Laurie and I had a Fraggle Rock marathon not too long ago."

"Down at Fraggle Rock, yes? Laurie is being humming the song for a long time and is telling me what it is when I am asking." She reached over and snagged the bowl of popcorn on the table as the DVD started, the copyright warning appearing on the screen. Politely, she offered the bowl to Jennie first.

Jennie took a handful and popped some into her mouth. "So," she said as they waited for the menu to load, "My idiot friend tells me he finally talked to you."

"Marius?" It wasn't really a question - Marius himself had called himself 'idiot' often enough that she knew immediately who Jennie meant. "Yes, he is. He is being saying sorry, for the making my powers help him." She glanced up at Jennie. "I am starting to be remember, when I was not-awake. I am remembering that you are being kind to me, when I am being with you."

Oh thank you God. "Yeah, we did what we could, considering." Jennie said, and shrugged. "That makes things a lot easier now, now he won't turn and run every time we hear you coming," she grinned.

Yvette giggled at that. "Because it is being very silly, when I am being so small, that he is running away. It is, how you say? Like I am having the cooties?"

Jennie laughed. "Yeah, he's a big old sissy-boy. Considering he's got at least a foot on you. He's learned to beware small red things, I guess." What with Angel's crush on him, which was never going to stop being funny. "How was the Mariusese? I know he's a little hard to understand, but you get used to it."

"It is being... hard to understand." If Yvette could have wrinkled her nose, she would have. "But he is trying to be making me understand. And I am remembering his nose." She tilted her head at the screen, where Gonzo was talking to Noah. "This is the Noah's Ark, yes? With the animals, two-by-two?"

"Yes," Jennie pointed. "See, Gonzo's thing is that he doesn't know what he is. Like, Kermit's a Frog, Fozzie's a Bear, Rizzo's a Rat and Ms. Piggy's a, uh, Pig. But Gonzo's always been a weirdo. He always seemed to be okay with it, but I think here it gets to be too much for him."

Yvette nodded again, leaning forward a little as she peered intently at the screen. Noah was telling Gonzo he couldn't come onto the Ark, as there was only one of him. As Noah handed Gonzo an umbrella and closed the doors behind him, the first drops of rain beginning to fall, Yvette blinked hard. Her eyes were growing hot and stinging. Then, as the Muppet cried out I don't want to be alone! in heart-rending fashion, two large tears rolled down her face.

"Yvette?" Jennie said, turning and looking at the girl. For the first time Jennie had ever seen, the girl was showing emotion. And not just the tears, her bottom lip was trembling. Jennie turned and picked up the box of kleenex that was on the side table and placed it next to the younger girl.

"It is being so sad, that Gonzo is being alone..." Yvette sniffled, and then stopped as the sound registered. Wonderingly, she brought her fingers up to her face, brushing the tears away with the gloves. "Oh," she said, a tiny noise of surprise. Then, slowly, almost carefully, the downturned corners of her mouth lifted, and she smiled. It wasn't a large beaming smile, the skin still feeling somewhat stiff, but it was the first smile she had managed since she had left the school back in October. "My face, it is moving, yes?" she asked Jennie, needing confirmation that she wasn't imagining it.

"Yes! Dude, that is so awesome!" Jennie exclaimed, jumping off the sofa. She disappeared into her room returning moments later with a small hand mirror. Sometimes you needed proof. "See? You've got such a pretty smile."

Yvette giggled a little giddily as she looked into the mirror Jennie held up for her. "My face, it is moving!" she exclaimed. "I am being to be like me again!" The mangled English was a sign of her excitement, and she experimented, pulling faces in the mirror. She didn't have full facial movement yet, but there was a definite softening of the usual doll-like mask. Wrinkling her nose, she giggled again.

Jennie leaned over and paused the DVD, while still holding the mirror for the younger girl. She tilted her head as she noticed something else. "Hey, your hair looks different. Less, I dunno, spiky?" Jennie was well acquainted with Yvette's hair, the scar on her thumb being a testament to how sharp it was.

Yvette reached up and touched it, the material of the glove shredding and re-knitting as she did. Still sharp then. But Jennie was right, it was less spiky, the clumps beginning to separate into strands. "Is this... I can be having the control?" she asked, turning that inhuman blue gaze onto Jennie. "I am not being to hurt people one day?"

"Of course," Jennie said knowledgeably. "That's what this place is about, control. When I first came here, I didn't think I needed much in the way of training, most of what I could do was self-taught. But I've learned that I don't have to cause bad luck everywhere I go. Sometimes it still happens, but I've gotten better about it. It just takes time."

Time. Time Yvette would gladly put in, now she knew change was possible. "It is being silly to say," she said, another small smile winning out. "But, I am thanking you for making me to cry, Jennie."

"Anytime." Jennie said with a slightly strange smile. "I have to say, I think you're the first person I've made cry here. I must be slacking. I mean, I've made Kyle cry. But those were tears of pain after I yelled in his ear on accident." She settled back into the couch and let Yvette hold onto the mirror. "Also? The movie gets better. Gonzo's not alone, really."

Yvette nodded, peeking into the mirror again to make sure it hadn't gone away. Nope, still smiling. "This is being good," she said, getting comfortable again. "Can we be seeing the rest of the movie? I am wanting to see Gonzo be happy."

"But of course," Jennie said, and hit play. "Wait til you get the shrimp in a tutu. That's funny."
