Ororo stops by the brownstone in between errands in the city. It seems she's looking for Remy, but gets Amanda instead. Awkwardness ensues.

Ororo had been to the brownstone before, so it wasn't as if the slight sense of unease she felt was from not being familiar with her surroundings. She chalked it up to having spent the afternoon in the city - too long among the skyscrapers always made her feel less like herself. I will be glad to get back to Westchester, she thought, shifting the package in her arms in order to push open the front door and step inside.

Amanda, for her part, was looking forward to spending a bit of time wandering the city, feeling its rhythms, topping up her power levels after China... She practically bounced out of the elevator, skidding to a stop on the polished tile of the foyer as she recognised the white-haired woman coming in. "Hey, Ms. Munroe," she said, smiling brightly. "Didn't think to see you here. Dropping something off for the Trenchcoats?"

"Oh, Amanda." She would not look embarrassed, she would not... "No, actually, I was just... in the area, and I thought I would come by. To see Remy. If he was in. Is he in?"

"Remy? Nah, he's off somewhere. Europe, I think..." Amanda shrugged a little carelessly. "He took off after the last job, haven't seen him since."

"France," Ororo corrected her, frowning. Though it wasn't unlike Remy to trek the world over for work, he had been gone a long time, seemingly without any real contact with the rest of Snow Valley. "I see. Well. Then I will just be on my way, I suppose. Thank you," she said formally.

Amanda raised her eyebrows. "Something up? I mean, if it's urgent or something I can use his emergency number. I just figured he needed a break, after coming back so battered from that Guild business he was on, so we haven't really tried to haul his arse back yet."

"No, no, that is fine," Ororo said with a shake of her head. That is the last thing I want. "It was only a social visit," she offered by way of explanation. "I had other business in the city and I thought I could... drop this off in person." She made a vague motion to the bag in her arms.

"Well, if you want, you could leave it with me and I'll make sure he gets it. If there's nothing in there that'll go off, that is." Amanda was surprised at there being a social context - she, like the rest of the Snow Valley crew, knew about the lunches between Remy and Storm, but those were business.

It was all the headmistress could do to keep a grimace from crossing her face. "You do not know when he will be back? Has anyone checked that he is all right?"

"Well, he said he'd be back when he was ready, and there's the panic button if he gets in strife..." Amanda almost shrugged again. "Big bad assassin with two-thirds of Europe in terror of him? He'll be fine."

He is only human, Ororo wanted to say, but she knew that Amanda was most likely right. "Of course," she said, smiling a little. "All the same, I suppose I will keep this... it is perishable, so I would not want it to go bad waiting for his return. Unless you would like it... it is only coffee."

Amanda wrinkled her nose. "Um, thanks for the offer, Ms. Munroe, but I'm not much of a coffee drinker. Too English." She grinned, amused. "If I hear from Remy, I'll let him know you were asking after him, yeah?"

"No, no, that is quite all right," she replied hurriedly. "That is, it is not important. I am sure we will be in contact soon enough." Curse you, Remy LeBeau... this should not have been that difficult. "Again, thank you. But business can wait." She made sure to put an extra emphasis on business. Just in case.

"All right then," Amanda said agreeably, resolving to leave Remy a note. If she remembered. "It was nice seeing you, Ms. Munroe." The was followed by a genuine smile - Amanda hadn't forgotten the older woman's kindness when Kurt had gone missing.

"Yes, it was a pleasure seeing you as well, Amanda," Ororo said, taking one large step towards the door, package still folded in her arms. "I am sure I will see you again... soon. Please stop by my office any time when you are at the mansion."

"Next time I drop the kids off, sure thing." Amanda gave Ororo a cheery wave, completely oblivious to any undercurrents there. "Safe drive, yeah?"

"Flight. But yes. Thank you."
