Kurt goes to see Scott with a certain request, which is granted. Nightcrawler's back, ladies and gentlemen.

He'd had lunch with Amanda, and stayed to talk a little afterwards, in no real hurry to get back... but he did want to catch Scott while he could be sure the other man was in the mansion, before he might decide to go out. So it was only mid-afternoon when Kurt made his way home and to Scott's office.

Scott was gazing rather pensively at the calendar - the January calendar - when Kurt appeared in the doorway. "Hey," he said.

Kurt glanced between him and the calendar, curiously, but it was none of his business really. He smiled. "Good afternoon, Scott."

"Kurt." The pensive look faded, and Scott smiled back at him. "It's a good look," he said, waving his hand. "The lack of scars, I mean."

"It is, I think", Kurt agreed, moving forward to settle in a chair. "And one I will be keeping."

... well, hallelujah. Scott just smiled, though. "So what brings you by my den of workaholic... uh, -ness?"

"...ah." He smiled slightly in turn. "As for that... I have a request. I would like - I think I am ready - to be full team again."

Scott raised an eyebrow, but gave it a full five seconds before he answered. "Okay," he said simply, and then smiled again.

Kurt blinked. He hadn't been sure what to expect, but it hadn't been that. "...okay?"

"Well, as far as I'm concerned, it's okay. I imagine Ororo will say the same thing, when she gets back." Scott's gaze slid to the calendar again for a moment, then back to meet Kurt's. "I don't think anyone else is going to have a problem, although I'd make sure you've squared things with Marie. I recall she was particularly upset." Scott paused again. "Obviously, if we know Mystique is involved in something, you're not coming unless it's Armageddon." And maybe not even then.

Kurt nodded. "I think that can go as understood. And I will talk to Marie, and Ororo when she returns." He paused. "Thank you, Scott."

"Talk to Charles?" was Scott's reply to that. "Just to make absolutely sure that you're okay with it." His lips twitched briefly. "Although as you're asking, I suspect you probably have made up all of your mind."

"When did you ever know me to make a decision without much thought, even if you consider it wrong?" was the wry answer. "But yes, I will talk to the Professor as well."

"I recommend the occasional fit of spontaneity. You'd be surprised at how much fun it could be." Scott shook his head, smiling down at his desk for a moment. "At this rate we'll have everyone back where they belong... I kind of like that idea, I must admit."

"Oh, that has been known too. But not for the decisions that matter. And yes, the idea does seem attractive." He thought back over the words for a moment, then smiled wryly. "It is funny how long it sometimes takes a man to know where he belongs."

"So long as you figure it out in the end... none of us were going to be anything but patient, you know, Kurt." Especially not me. He'd been given time to figure it all out, too.

"And if I had not figured it out?" Kurt asked quietly. "If I had left? I did consider it, for a time."

"Then you would have left," Scott said, steadily. "Maybe you would needed to leave, if things hadn't been coming clear here."

"And it would still have been all right, if I had ever needed to come back? All forgiven?"

"All right with who? Me? I'm the only person I can speak for, Kurt," Scott pointed out. "But if you'd left, I would have been glad to see you come back, yes."

Kurt smiled, at that. "Then I suppose that is all I can ask to hear. Again, thank you."

"You're welcome," Scott said finally. "It's... good to see you back, Kurt," he added. Meaning a few different things.

"And it is good to be back." More than you know.
