Who: Laurie Collins, J.H. Forge
When: Now
What Happens: Laurie goes to talk to Forge about the status of their relationship and gets a reaction she didn't quite expect.

Laurie paused by Forge's office door, suddenly shy and nervous. She'd been thinking about this for a few days now, turning everything she wanted to say over in her head. She was attracted to Forge but on the other hand, he was a staff member and she couldn't see that ending well at all. She thought that ending it now, and deciding to be 'just friends' would be the best decision for both of them.

With a slight shiver of nerves, she reached up and knocked on his door. "Um, Forge?" she called out timidly.

Forge glanced up from the pile of reports, giving a small sigh that turned into a halfhearted smile when he saw Laurie in the doorway. "Hey, Laurie. Sorry for the mess, but I'm absolutely swamped here." He frowned slightly and looked down at his phone. "Did I not get a text or something? The whole dropping by to see me at work is... new."

"Oh, um, no. I didn't send you one. That is, I mean to say, I thought I should come talk to you." Laurie stammered, hands thrusting into her pockets. "You see, I think we're better at just being friends and I'm sorry, please don't hate me."

"Ah," Forge said, glancing back to his paperwork and shuffling a few pages around before looking up at Laurie. "That's fine. Was there anything else?"

"Because I think it's just...wait, what?" Laurie said, blinking slightly at Forge's reply.

She'd been all ready to give him her logic on just why it was a good idea they be just friends and here he was being all okay with it. That was just, it was just...guys weren't meant to do that. Forge was meant to be all sad, or not because she liked him and didn't want him to be sad but some reaction at all would be nice. Hmph.

"Fine then. I guess I'll just leave you to your work."

Forge nodded and turned to his keyboard to type out another search. He gazed intently at the screen for a moment before searching for a CD on his desk and noticing Laurie still in the doorway. Glancing back and forth, he raised his eyebrows and looked at her. "Am I missing something here?"

"Not at all." Laurie replied, smiling somewhat uncomfortably and then turning to leave. "Just go back to your computer, Forge. I'll catch you later, hey?"

Well, it was both easier then she expected and somewhat more annoying then she'd expected. No one really wants to believe they're not hard to get over and while she knew they'd only ever been 'friends with benefits' it was still...vexing that he was just not seemingly caring at all.

Laurie thought it just might be time to pay a visit home. She needed her Mom, who had always been able to explain these sorts of things to her in ways she could understand.
