Kurt brings Amanda breakfast and she tells him about the dream. Including at least one very interesting "fact".

"Thanks, Blue," Amanda said, slightly muffled by the mouthful of toast. She chewed and swallowed before continuing, realising belatedly that it wasn't really good manners to talk with your mouth full. Even if the extended nap time had left her starving hungry. Staying in the medlab bed until clothes arrived, she'd attacked the tray Kurt had brought down with gusto, and now, the edge taken off, she was up for talking. "If watching me eat wasn't enough to satisfy you I'm all right, nothing will," she continued, reaching for the large mug of tea and giving her brother a fond smile. "I have to say, it's good to see you looking like you, tho'. Dream you just wasn't right, somehow."

"It does sound quite bizarre", he agreed. "In many different ways."

She snickered. "What, you mean the part where you were my boyfriend? I swear, it was something like a bloody Disney movie. Little gypsy girl, son of the local baron... All it needed were some talking animals and a crappy soundtrack."

"Well, that certainly. And the part where I was the son of the local baron. I had never thought..."

She caught the tone in his voice and sat up a little, becoming a bit more serious. "Well, I don't know how much you can credit the whole thing - it was just a dream. But yeah, in a world without mutants, you were Kurt Wagner, son of some baron in Germany." She smiled a little in remembrance. "You fell off your horse while riding and dinged yourself up some and I found you. Again with the Disney shite."

Kurt chuckled slightly. "So you healed me in that world as well? Did you know much of my family?"

"More like got Stefan to haul you back to the camp - it was odd, I didn't have any powers in that world at all. No magic, even the non-mutant kind." She sipped her tea meditatively, trying to remember the details - things were still pretty clear, given she'd believed in that other life for far longer than the others. "Your mum died, when you were a nipper. And your dad... he was the strict type. Sort of... hard? He didn't approve of us, and made sure you knew it." She shook her head. "Real Romeo and Juliet story."

"Mystique told me..." he said slowly, thinking it out. "That my father would not have been a good man to be raised by. And now you say you knew him as a hard man, in this dream world."

Amanda nodded, giving him a sympathetic look. "Wish I could give you more than that, Kurt. But like I said, it was all a dream any way - it's not likely to have a whole lot of weight to it." She fell silent, drinking her tea, and then added, suddenly. "Wagner. That was his name too."

"I thought it might be", he said with a slight shrug. "It was either that, or Mystique invented it to give to me." He paused, then, "What else happened in the dream?"

She shrugged, trying to be nonchalant. "The basics. No mutants meant no Rack, so no being stolen and brought up as a magical battery. Growing up with Margali and Stefan and Jimiane." Her voice caught suddenly. "And Dad, before..."

Kurt looked up at her at that catch in her voice, and moved over to sit next to her. "I am glad you have some clearer memories of him, at least."

"Even if they weren't really real," she said, but she set the tea down on the hospital table and leaned her head against his shoulder. "He was nice. Liked to laugh, liked to make the rest of us laugh. Even Margali - I don't think I've ever seen her do that. I wish..." She stopped. There was no point voicing the thought - if wishes were horses. "I didn't want to stay in that world, but there's parts I wish I could have kept."

"You will not forget them, if you try not to", Kurt pointed out. "That is almost like keeping them, in a way. Perhaps you could write it down."

"What, I get homework?" she said with a laugh that sounded a little unsteady, but her eyes were clear when she looked up at him. "'S a good idea, Blue. Even with the trained memory and all, there's some things I wouldn't want to lose." She paused, and the smiled. "We still had the circus, did I tell you that? And guess who was the trapeze act?" The smile turned impish. "I get why you love it so much now. Talk about a buzz."

Kurt laughed, reaching over to ruffle her hair. "That part, at least, we can make reality. If you would like."

"I'd say 'only if you catch me if I fall', but I know you'd do that any way," she replied, batting at the ruffling hand. "Sorry to worry you, Blue."

"Always", he agreed, more seriously. "And it was not your fault. Not anyone's, really, so they tell me."

"'S all part of being us," she agreed with a wry grin. "And that pesky field trip curse."
