Angel/Yvette

After coming back from Kansas, Angel and Yvette play catch up.  And the idea of Red X is dangled in front of Yvette.

Angel glanced out at the snow coming down on the Mansion and grinned over at Yvette.  "I'm almost sick of snow," she said, wiping the fog off the glass of the window.  Now that her work was done in Kansas City, she was back at the school and getting in some quality suitemate time with Yvette.  "Almost though, not quite.  I think it helps that I can't, you know, feel the cold or anything."

Yvette giggled softly from her own perch on the other end of the window seat."It is being different when the snow is being bad for people too," she said wryly. "It is being not so much the fun then."

"No, it's really not.  You think of earthquakes and fire..."  She glanced wryly at her own hands.  "Being big disaster bringers.  But that was a huge winter storm that just totally shut everything down."  Angel beamed.  "Good thing they had several walking heaters over there."

"Your powers are being the very useful for the helping, yes?" Yvette asked. She was curious about this rescue service the other students were involved in, although she doubted there was much she could offer.

"Sometimes, yeah.  I wasn't much good powers wise in Hawaii but in this case, I was.  Which is good.  Fire is pretty destructive and it feels good being able to use it to help people instead of just setting stuff on fire."  Fingers wiggled at Yvette for a second.  "You'd be pretty good out there as well, being all tough and stuff.  And with the slicing."

"Helping is good," Yvette agreed, remembering that her powers had been able to help Marius, even while she was unconscious. "I am thinking... maybe I could be joining the Red X too?"

"If you want to, yeah!"  This was good.  Yvette seemed like a shy girl even without the worrying about her powers so any chance to draw her out of her shell made Angel do a little dance of glee.  "And even if you can't help powers specific, they always have something else for you to do.  I think you'd be good at that."

The thought of exposing herself to strangers en masse was terrifying, but this was more important than her fears. And what Mr. Logan had said about making the world safe had resonated with her. "I am thinking, that if the teachers are being trying to be making things safe for us, that maybe we should be helping too?" she offered shyly, almost hesitantly. "To be... doing the same, for the people who cannot be helping themselves?"

That got a huge, encouraging smile out of Angel.  "Exactly.  And that's what's great about the whole thing is that we get to give back to folks.  We get a lot of help here and I like the idea of being able to turn around and because are here, help someone else.  It's a fantastic feeling."

Yvette nodded, smiling. It was good when someone understood what she was trying to say. "Yes, this is being what I am meaning. Mr. Dayspring is being letting me to be helping with the Elpis work, but maybe, if I am being the friends helping me, I could be doing the Red X also?" She ducked her head a little. "I am being a little nervous, about the being around the people I am not being knowing."

"But you won't be around all strangers," Angel rushed to reassure her.  "Tons of us are on Red X and if you're really nervous, you can start off the missions being paired with one of us, yeah?  How does that sound?"

"That is sounding very good," Yvette agreed, eyes flaring bright.
