Angelo and Nathan, Wednesday morning
Mar. 21st, 2007 10:22 amNathan is sneaky, and gets Angelo to go on a 'working' holiday to Madagascar.
Nathan was trying not to whistle under his breath, or look 'innocently' at Angelo, as he skimmed through the file on his computer screen. Angelo was laboring away earnestly at a stack of paperwork, Nathan wasn't sure what. This might be a good moment.
Eventually, the 'innocent' looks penetrated, for all Nathan was trying to resist, and Angelo looked up suspiciously over his papers. "What?"
"Do you want to go to Madagascar?"
"...what's in Madagascar?"
"Umm... people," Nathan said after a moment, vaguely. "Interesting animals. It has lemurs?"
"Lemurs are cute", Angelo allowed patiently, eyeing him. "Why d'you want me to go to Madagascar?"
"No particular reason, I suppose. It'd be an investigatory trip. Assessment." That was the nature of most of the Elpis trips that the Tel Aviv office carried out, and he needed to take a look at the plan for Mongolia this summer, come to think of it. "Most of what we've done in Africa has been in the northern or central parts of the continent."
Angelo nodded. "True. So... you're lookin' to move into the southern part now?"
"Not necessarily," Nathan temporized. "I just want to know what's going on, mutant-wise, in the southern part." And Angelo needed a vacation. A nice, all-expenses paid vacation to an exotic location with the pretext of work to keep him busy.
"...okay", Angelo said after a moment, with an easy shrug. "Sounds good. I'll go." Which did not mean he was taken in, but... he'd have been crazy to turn down said nice all-expenses paid vacation.
"Oh good. I'll make arrangements," Nathan said cheerfully, turning his attention back to the file. "Do you want to take anyone with you?"
"Um... I'd say yeah, but I'll have to ask first. This a trip that needs more than one Elpis person?"
"It doesn't necessarily need to be an Elpis person..." All right, maybe he was going a little far with that.
Just a little, and it got him another suspicious-yet-amused look. "I'll take that as a no. Okay, I'll ask if she's free."
Nathan went back to the file, humming under his breath. My work here is done.
