Backdated. Kurt and Marie chat about the excitement of their last mission.

Kurt was at something of a loss - with his hand still splinted, he couldn't practise the trapeze or really any form of acrobatics without doing more damage. So he'd been filling the time he usually spent on that with visits to the greenhouse and walks on the grounds.

It was during one of those he happened on Marie, meditating by the lake. He paused not far away, waiting for her to finish rather than disturb her.

Letting out a deep breath, Marie opened her eyes, spotting the blue furred man standing nearby. "Hey Kurt." Her glance lowered to his broken hand and a shadow passed over her face, though only briefly. "Enjoying the sunshine?"

"And the grounds and the fresh air", he agreed with a slight smile, seeming untroubled by his hand. "It is a lovely day."

"It is," Marie agreed, floating up until she could extend her legs into a standing position. "Hopefully winter is on it's way out now. Ah don't like summer all that much, but spring is a good season."

"You do not like summer?" he asked curiously, taking the last few paces to join her.

"Gets hot," she said with a shrug. "An' people stare." She didn't have to say at what. "Ah'm kinda used to it now though, so it doesn't bother me much anymore. Fall and winter are just easier, y' know?"

"Of course", he agreed immediately, more than a little abashed at not having realized the reason sooner.

"No biggie," she said with a shrug, shooting a smile at Kurt. She tried not to complain about her mutation too much anymore - people had to be tired of it by now. "It's...you know, it could be worse. Ah could have horrible sense in fashion and start wearing seventies inspired platforms and teasing my hair." The joke rang slightly hollow to her ears, but she was trying to lighten things and maybe Kurt would follow that.

He usually did pick up on such attempts and go along with them, and he smiled back, only a little ruefully. "That would be worse indeed. And not suit you, I think."

"You on the other hand would like fabulous in that," she teased. "All the kids would be talking about it." Her smile turned to one of relief and appreciation. "So how are you holding up?"

"Fairly well, honestly." He settled down on the grass nearby. "Scott is well, and we caught many of the Preservers, Including the important one."

"Yeah. Though Ah could do with a little less excitement in the future, y'know?"

"I doubt this is the first time that has been said in this house. Perhaps it will even come true, this time. For a while."
