Morning in Attilan - Angelo is a little unnerved to be sleeping in a palace and wakes early. There is talk about Crystal's home life, and then cute, of course.
It wasn't that he hadn't been able to sleep in the new surroundings - he'd had one of the best nights' sleep of his life, in fact - but it had taken a little adjustment to the fact that this very comfortable bed was in a palace, and when Angelo woke there was a distinct moment of disorientation. Even the nicest of the hotels he'd stayed in on Elpis business hadn't been like this.
Amanda's presence in his arms, still asleep, helped to make things more familiar, though. He looked down at her with a crooked grin, then shifted very carefully until he could just turn his head and kiss a trail down her jawline - the aim being to wake her as pleasantly as possible.
She made a soft, sleepy noise and buried her face in his neck, nuzzling under his jaw with her nose. For a moment Angelo wasn't sure if she wasn't still asleep, but then she murmured, somewhat drowsily: "'S it time for work yet?"
"Nope", he said, amused. "We're on vacation, remember?"
"Oh, right." She tilted her chin up a little to kiss the pulse point under his jaw, eyes still closed. "I thought I'd been having a really good dream. One with lots of sex in it. Yay for reality." Cuddling closer, she continued, still half-asleep: "Why're you awake? Nightmare?"
"No nightmare", he said with a half-smile she couldn't see, dropping a kiss on her hair. It was true - they hadn't stopped entirely, but they'd certainly been getting less frequent. "Just... woke up."
"Silly biological clock," she mock-grumbled, and stirred herself enough to open her eyes and shift so she could look up at him. "And here I was thinking I'd worn you out enough last night. I still can't get over the size of this bloody bed - you could have a footy match on it, easy."
"Or two", he agreed half-seriously. "Never thought I'd actually have first-hand proof the mansion was a step down for somebody."
"Yeah. Certainly gives me a better idea about why Crystal's had such a time adjusting. Why would you change your ways if this is what you're used to? Not even Manuel's Dad's place was this nice." And at least there wasn't anyone offering to pay for her 'services' here. "'M glad you're here, tho'. You can poke me whenever you see me starting to say something crass, what with you being Mr. Diplomacy and all."
"An' when you know you'll be goin' back to it in the end", he said with a nod, then laughed. "Sure I will. But I'm only learnin' to be Mr. Diplomacy still."
"Learning's better than nothing, which is what I've got. People being all proper brings out the happy little anarchist in me, I have to say. And talking with the poncy accent makes my throat tired." She leaned in and nuzzled his ear, kissing the corner of his jaw. "Still, Crystal's people seem nice enough, and she's happy here. That's easy to see."
He turned a little to give her better access, and nodded slightly. "Well, yeah. It's home, an' it's a good one - not just the palace part. Course she is."
"Must be weird, growing up somewhere where being a mutant's a normal thing, and then going to a place where you can get the shite beaten out of you for it." She caught his earlobe between her teeth, biting gently, although with Angelo's skin 'gentle' was a bit more than normal. Too gentle was ticklish more than anything, and she didn't want to get headbutted in the nose. "Good sort of weird, tho'."
He would have turned to look at her at that, but he didn't want to move just at the moment and interrupt her. "If you meant the first part, yeah. Not so much the other part."
She snorted a little into his ear. "Of course I meant the first part. 'M not into that much pain."
He did twitch at that - the snorting had tickled more than the bite had. "Yeah. Another reason why Crystal's been havin' trouble, I guess... comin' from this, an' knowin' she was a mutant or likely to be all her life..."
She grinned, and blew gently into his ear before moving her lips to his cheek, his beard stubble rasping against her skin slightly. "See, if I'd stayed with my family 'stead of being taken, it might've been the same for me - mutant-friendly family, a brother who was one himself... Then again, I mightn't have ended up at the school either. Funny old world, sometimes." She punctuated the reflection with a kiss on his mouth as he turned his face towards her.
He'd been about to say something along the lines of "if Kurt did, maybe", but he suddenly found himself forgetting all about it, and just kissed her back, hand going to run through her hair.
Somehow, during the course of the kiss, Amanda wound up lying on top of him, and when they broke for air, she smiled down at him, tracing patterns on his bare chest with her finger. "I think I'm glad how everything turned out, all things considered," she said, pretend nonchalantly.
He was just very slightly dazed as he looked up at her, but in the best possible way. "Yeah, I'm... pretty good with the way our lives wound up too."
Ooh, she bent his brain - she loved it when she managed that. "So, how long do you think we've got before we need to make an appearance?" she asked, moving very slightly against him, a wicked grin playing at the corners of her mouth.
"...don't know", he said, a slight frown appearing at the thought of having to get up just yet. "Depends what time it is. An' then, we are here on vacation, not on business..."
"I like the way you think," she said, dipping her head to apply her mouth to his throat. And not just the way he thought - the way his hands were moving across her skin was something she couldn't get enough of. "And I'm back home in a couple of days," she continued, murmuring into his skin as she kissed and nibbled. "So we ought to get as much private time in as possible, yeah?"
His head tipped back under her ministrations, baring more of his throat for her to reach, and his hands tightened unconsciously on her sides. "Yeah, I think we... should. They'll come get us if they need us for anythin'."
"Mmm." She ran her tongue up the line of his throat, making full use of the stud in it, and grinning at the way he jumped a little. If vacations were like this, they were going to have to try and manage them more often.
Unfortunately, they were about to be interrupted, as a knock came at the door, followed by a voice calling their names and announcing "Breakfast will be ready in ten minutes!"
Amanda groaned, dropping her forehead down onto the pillow beside his head. "Bugger," she said, with feeling, before rolling off him into the soft mattress. "Shouldn't hold up the royals, I s'pose?" she sighed, looking over at him with a hint of a pout.
"It'd be kind of rude", he said ruefully, making a reluctant move towards getting up. "Come on, then. Breakfast it is." There'd always be later for... other things.
"Wouldn't want to cause an international incident by being rude, now," she agreed. It didn't stop her from grabbing him for a quick kiss before he got up, though.
They had time for that, at least, even if it ended up not being all that quick.
