Takes place before Angelo is grounded.
Paige found herself in front of the mirror again. She didn't think she'd spent so much time in front of the mirror in the last week than she had in probably her entire life. Or at least, a large portion of her life. She was tempted to poke at the very unnatural curls that had appeared in her hair - with large amounts of Ali's help - but she also remembered hand swatting away and tsking when she'd tried it before so resisted. Paige had been informed that she was lovely but really? She just felt odd. Adjusting her short gloves - because when Paige dressed up, she dressed up oldschool - and smoothing down her skirt for the hundredth time, Paige waited.
Angelo arrived at her room and knocked softly on the door, come to collect her and take her downstairs to where Alison was waiting to drive them into town.
She closed her eyes tight, taking a deep breath. It's just Angelo. Angelo loves you. You love Angelo. Why are you nervous? Brave, brave, be brave... She walked over to the door, opening it to find exactly who she expected this time, and smiled. "You're... wow. Just... wow. Hi."
Angelo smiled back, gazing at her. "So are you." He reached out to take her hand.
"Thank you." She was blushing slightly and didn't feel the need to argue, taking his hand. A tiny purse, her watch inside, was in her other hand and her jacket on the back of the door, which she pulled down. She seemed to have lost her tongue.
The two of them began walking down towards the front hall to meet Alison, hand in hand. Angelo let a comfortable silence continue for a little while. Finally, he turned to her and said quietly, "Thanks for... for saying yes."
"I said yes because I wanted to. Thank you for asking." Paige smiled, much braver than she felt. This wasn't awkward, not like she thought, but it was new and different.
Angelo smiled back and raised his free hand to tap her nose playfully. "Thank Jake - I could never have taken you anywhere so nice without his help."
"Oh, I will. Having friends with more money than brains-I mean," she said playfully and very mock as she wrinkled her nose, "I mean, as kind as Jake is comes in handy."
Angelo twined his fingers through hers. "Yeah, he's great."
Paige laughed, swinging their hands as they walk through the front doors. "Very great. Perhaps he needs another plant to keep Daphne company."
Angelo chuckled. "Only if you look after it for him - from what he said last time, he's not so good at that."
"What's there to do? You water it occasionally. The end. Maybe I'll send him memos while I'm at it," Paige replied. She waved at Alison who waved back.
Angelo looked up and smiled at Alison, who was standing ready by the car. He and Paige headed over there to get into the vehicle and, true to form, he opened the door for her as they got in.
