Jan loglet - The History of Peeps
Apr. 18th, 2007 12:15 pmDuring lunch, Janet delivers the “History of Peeps” and is surprised by a sudden development .
“Before the Just Born company started making Peeps, they made chocolate. They didn’t even come up with the idea for Peeps, they took over this company called Rodda which was already making the marshmallow goodies,” Jan announced to everyone who was in the dining hall. She was, of course, using her voice amplifier, and even speaking into a megaphone for added emphasis. “Just chicks at that time, pink, yellow and white, and at that time it took forever to make just one little Peep. They squeezed the marshmallow goop out of pastry tubes, and then they started using machines, but it still took twenty-seven hours just to make one chick. Then, in the 1960’s, they started making other shapes for other holidays, things for Christmas and Halloween like trees and pumpkins and cats, and of course those weren’t pink or yellow or white because whoever heard of a pink, yellow, or white pumpkin, and black cats are supposed to be the scary ones, but I think they’re cute. Anyway…”
Jan continued on with her “The History of Peeps” speech, sitting in a tiny chair on top of a table in the front of the room. She was exuberant, actually having fun with this. As far as research projects and punishments went, this one really wasn’t so bad. “… and then, last year, because so many people were into Peeps, they made a special website just for Peeps so people could…” It took Jan a moment to realize something was happening, as everything grew… smaller? The chair broke, the amplifier and megaphone were pushed forward, and Jan found herself sitting, naked, on top of the table.
“Um…” Jan paused for a moment, then leaned over to a very surprised student sitting nearby. “Hey,” she whispered, “can I borrow that? Thanks.” She grabbed his jacket, covered herself, and continued on with the verbal delivery of her research project. “People seemed really into Peeps, and this website allows Peeps fans from everywhere to talk about Peeps. Ok now, onto some Peeps fun facts. Did you know…”
Jan continued on with everything she had planned on saying. Taking an offered sweatshirt and another jacket, she covered herself properly before sliding off the table, taking a bow, and exiting the lunchroom.
5’4” Janet ran down the hallway to find some clothes. She was the proper size. It was about time!
