Kurt and Angel
Apr. 20th, 2007 08:00 pmAngel and Kurt at the tail end of the circus outing. Angel has a new job to aspire to. ;)
With glee, Angel finished off the cotton candy and tossed the stick away. It was the fifth one she'd had, along with several hot dogs and enough chocolate to satisfy any normal appetite. She gave the hot dog stand one last, sorrowful look before turning back to Mr. Sefton. Things were closing and she'd run out of money.
Kurt was watching her with something between wariness and amazement. He would never understand where teenagers managed to put all that food. "I think perhaps it is time to go home now, Angel."
"Aww," she sulked, spying the boys at one of the last game booths at the end of the walkway. "Well, at least we don't have to hunt them down..." Angel paused to yawn and rub her eyes, her other hand clutching the bear that Julio had won for her earlier in the day. It looked like Kyle was trying to win something even bigger now.
"The booths are closing down", he pointed out, looking around until he saw the boys. "But we will let Kyle finish his game first."
"Yeah, he looks like he's having fun." She grinned up at him. "Thanks for the invite, Mr. S. After the last few weeks, this was totally welcome." Angel had avoided the booth that sold dinosaur meat (real or fake, it didn't matter) but it had otherwise been an awesome day.
He smiled back at her, pleased. "I thought it might be. I am glad you all had a good time."
"We really did and it's really nice out. I liked the fire-breathing guy a lot." Angel giggled, bouncing on her toes for a second. "Maybe that's what I could be when I grow up! Skip the firefighting stuff and do fire breathing for the circus!"
Kurt laughed, not thinking for a moment she was serious. "It might be something to think about. As a sideline, at least."
Glancing back and forth to make sure the crows were passed them, Angel cupped her hands around her mouth. It was just a matter of concentrating her power in her mouth and a second later a small trickle of blue flame came dancing through her fingers. "Total natural," she snickered.
Kurt blinked at her, then chuckled. "Perhaps you could start with shows at the school, if you practice that a little more."
"We could set up our own school circus and everything!" Another yawn made the last word warble a little bit.
"It would be a good one, no doubt", Kurt agreed, looking down at her again with some concern. It wasn't that long since her last sugar injection. "Are you all right?"
Angel blaarghed a bit. "Just sleepy," she said, sounding irritated. "Sugar rush, whee!, but then, boom! Big crash. Will not crash, will not crash..." She glanced around but all the places with sugar and more sugar were closed down now.
"I do not think you have much say in that", Kurt said wryly. He considered, briefly, the merits of stopping somewhere on the way home to get her more sugar, but decided against it. He didn't want to make her ill.
"I just need more will power! It's like getting your second wind! ...it totally probably doesn't help that I stayed up real late last night watching movies, does it?"
"...no, I would say not", was the dry response. "Time to gather the boys, I think, so we can get back to the taxi before you fall asleep."
"Awww." Another sulk but it was more tired now, the last few weeks of constant on the go finally catching up with Angel. She shuffled forward a step, clutching the bear even tighter. "Stupid need to sleep."
Kurt looked at her and then, practical and decisive, stepped forward to pick up girl, bear and all, settling her carefully in his arms. "Sleep. I will carry you."
"Best day out, ever."
