Kurt and Jean, backdated
Apr. 19th, 2007 06:54 pmThey go out for drinks and friendly conversation.
Kurt smiled as he returned to their table, bearing a round of drinks. "It is too long since we last did this, Jean."
"Indeed," Jean said, collecting her wine. "Things have been busy, but things are always busy - it's no excuse."
"Well, any time you would like to, you only have to ask," he said, taking his beer from the tray and putting it down. "My schedule is not usually very busy."
She raised her glass in a toast, smiling at him. "Here's to quiet evenings."
"To quiet evenings with friends," he amended slightly, toasting her back with a smile in return.
Jean took a sip, adding, "May we get more of them," before setting down her glass. "What have you been up to these days?" she asked. "Also, so we can claim there was shop talk - any lingering pain?"
"None at all," he told her honestly. "And as for what I have been doing... mostly the same things as usual. I built a trapeze for Janet."
"Really? That's fabulous. She must have loved it. I do hope we can help her learn to control whatever mutation it is that shrunk her - she's incredibly cheerful about it, but it must be wearing."
"At least she is a little bigger now," he agreed. "It is not exactly control, but it is a step forward."
"Yes, that's true. I've not heard the specifics of that - is she audible yet?" Jean grinned and amended, "I mean, audible to those of us without enhanced hearing."
"She is", Kurt said with a smile. "At first because she was shouting, but now I understand Forge has given her an amplifier."
"A good idea. And if she can shout loud enough to be heard, that's excellent news."
"It certainly seems as if she can. Though the amplifier is also a good thing, if only for the sake of her throat."
Jean nodded, taking another sip of her drink. "And how are your classes going? I hope they didn't forget everything over spring break..."
"The ones who are returning seem to have remembered most of the key points", Kurt said with a slight smile over his own glass. "And I have a few new students, of course."
"Ah, true. You get more turn over at the end of terms than I do. Full year science courses and all." Jean wrinkled her nose. "Any particularly fun stories from the new classes yet?"
"With these students? I would be surprised if there were not, from any class you care to name. Let me think, which ones first..."
