Forge arrives back only to discover that his suitemate's a girl... and decides to go to Prom after all (to see Garrison's face when he sees Marie).

Forge dragged the large suitcase behind him as he wrestled with the door to his suite. He hadn't expected coming back from Canada with so much stuff, but between Minister MacDonald's love of kitschy souvenirs and a stack of research folders from Hudson, he'd doubled his luggage weight for what was supposed to be a quick business trip.

The mansion was mostly abandoned, it seemed. Forge hadn't had the chance to check the journals in the past week, but he hadn't received any security alerts. Perhaps everyone was - ah yes, Prom, he reminded himself. Folks were probably out getting hair done and whatnot.

Shouldering the door to the shared suite open, Forge exhaled loudly, hauling the suitcase up onto the back of the couch. "Hey, Ange, I'm home!" he called exuberantly.

Angelo appeared from the door of her room, dressed ready for a session in the gym, and grinned at him. "Hey, Forge. Have a good trip?"

Not seeing his temporarily-female suitemate, Forge assumed the voice was Amanda's as he sorted the research folders into piles. "Yeah, productive. Hey, is Angelo around -- "

He turned around, and the words stuck in his throat as he took in the short grey-skinned girl standing in Angelo's doorway. "Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you were someone else." Sister? Angelo didn't mention a sister... "Um, is Angelo around? I think I have enough souvenir t-shirts from Canada to clothe an entire hockey team."

Angelo briefly debated how long she could keep up the pretence of being someone else, then decided it was a little too mean to pull on Forge when he'd only just got home. "You're lookin' at him. Remember that team bondin' thing Ororo made us do last weekend? Didn't quite go to plan. It's only supposed to be for another couple days, though."

Team bonding? Forge cocked his head. What was this girl talking about...? "Oh. My. God." He blinked a few times, then squinted at the dark-haired girl. "Angelo? You're a girl. Um, a woman."

"Yep", she said wryly. "An' I'm not the only one, either. Half the team got switched - everyone that went to the camp last weekend. Which is why the other half aren't out there this weekend."

"No shit?" Forge exclaimed incredulously. "Jesus. That's like... agh, the pinnacle of weird shit in a place known for weird shit. Well, uh, you said it's only supposed to last a few days? That's a relief. Man. How weird is it?"

"Yeah, the guy who did it said it should wear off after a week, which is tomorrow. Don't ask me why he did it, he never said." She paused, considering. "It's... different. But not all that bad, you know? I mean, when the change was actually happenin', I felt sick as a dog, but after that passed... it could be worse. Least the body's healthy."

Forge smiled and shook his head, "That's good, but man, better you guys than me. I've had enough of people mucking about with my body to last me a lifetime. I don't exactly have all the original factory parts left, you know? I'd prefer to keep them in close to the default configuration."

Angelo laughed. "Yeah, fair point. Can't say I'd have gone for this given the choice, but none of us actually got one, so I just figure, it's not permanent, better to make the best of it." She grinned crookedly. "Makes it easier that I'm not gettin' cramps or any powers problems from bein' in a different body, unlike some."

"Make the best of it, huh? Tell me they didn't lasso you into chaperoning the Prom like that?"

"No, that was the week before last", she said ruefully. "An' I'm not exactly sick, an' it's not like the kids don't know. Seein' as most of the usual chaperones aren't any better off, I can't really back out now."

Forge chuckled lowly, rubbing his hands together in restrained amusement. "That ought to be fun. ... wait, Marie was on the trip, wasn't she?" His restrained amusement rapidly became unrestrained as Forge fell over onto the couch, laughing himself breathless. "Oh good God, please let Garrison run into that, please please please..."

It would only be fair play after the Mountie had succeeded in completely breaking Forge's brain, after all.

"Yes, yes she was", Angelo confirmed with a wicked grin. "She might've said somethin' about bein' relieved he was gone while she was a guy, but I don't think she'll be able to hide from him long now he's back. Unless he doesn't recognise her."

"Oh, there's no way I'm missing Prom now," Forge said, heading for his room to see if his good suit was pressed. "I wouldn't miss that for the world."
