Backdated to last Saturday, the Prom. Marie holds Yvette to that promise of a dance.
OOC: Apologies for the late posting, especially during Ahab, but I've been offline for the weekend.
Prom was... well, still confusing, given the number of transformed staff who were attending, but Yvette was having a good, if somewhat subdued time. Those friends who were there had been good company at the dinner part, and she was enjoying watching them dancing, even if she wasn't quite brave enough to go out onto the floor herself, although Tommy had asked her. And several people had complimented her on the very pretty dress Marie had gotten for her.
All in all, prom wasn't entirely a bad thing. Even if there had been some kissing. Ew.
"See? Prom isn't so bad," Marie said, smiling down at the red girl. He'd watched Yvette watching her friends, noticing that the she hadn't been joining her friends on the dance floor, but he was just glad that Yvette had decided to come. "Ah hope you like the dress."
Yvette looked up at the tall young man and nodded after a moment. It was still taking some getting used to, but she was realising the people where still the same, despite the new appearances. "It is being a very pretty dress," she replied. Her smile was still a little stiff, but it was a smile nontheless. "Thank you, Miss Marie, for making for to get it for me." She tilted her head a little. "You are looking very nice too."
"Thank you," Marie said with a mournful look at his tux. "Not quite the outfit Ah was planning on, but it works. Now Ah'll have to come up with another place to wear the pretty dress Ah'd picked out."
"I am being sure you are having the place to go," Yvette replied. "Maybe you are to be asking Mr. Garrison to be taking you to a nice place?" she added, a little slyly. She hadn't missed that Marie had apparently been overtaken by spring fever as well.
Marie's mouth lifted into a smile. "So we aren't 'groady' then?" he teased Yvette, hands lifting in airquotes to steal one of Angel's words. "But Ah think that'd be fair, considering he missed the prom an' all."
"Oh, it is being the groady, yes," Yvette replied, accepting the teasing tone. "But it is being the... how you say? The thing people are being doing? And you are being the more happy when you are seeing Mr. Garrison, and this is the good thing."
One day... Marie thought with a knowing glance at Yvette. "Ah'm glad you can look past the groady for us. And yes, it is a good thing." Running a hand through his hair, Marie glanced around the room. "So what do you think so far?"
"It is a very nice party," Yvette replied readily. "Everyone is being so very fine, and I am liking the music. Mr. Sheppard is be... is very clever." She looked out on the floor a little wistfully, her foot tapping in time to the music.
Marie followed Yvette's gaze out to the dance floor, knowing what it was for and empathizing. After all, wasn't his date tonight the only person who'd asked her to dance the last time? Straightening, Marie placed one hand behind his back and bowed, sweeping outwards with his other hand. "Miss, may Ah have this dance?"
Yvette blinked, startled, not expecting the very courtly gesture. It was sort of flattering, actually. "I am wanting to be careful no-one is being bumping into me," she began, and glanced at the French doors, leading outside. "Can we to be going there?"
"Indeed. Anything the lady requests," Marie said, continuing in the gallant theme. Crooking his elbow, he waited for Yvette to take it, before making his way outside. "It's a beautiful night, huh?"
Yvette had paused to make sure her gloves and leotard were secure before taking Marie's arm, and now she nodded, looking up at the stars. "It is being very peaceful. And quiet." Her eyes flared briefly. "I like it to be quiet."
"Ah like the quiet too," Marie said as he shifted to hold Yvette's hand in a formal dancing position. The music from was straining outside very softly and Marie began to swirl Yvette around the patio, making sure to keep her movements slow.
It was just as well, given the height difference. But eventually Yvette managed to find her rhythm, and the pair twirled around the patio. "It is being like the fairy story," Yvette said with a giggle. "But I am not wearing the glass shoes, and you are being the one being having the spell."
"Ah just hope this one will end at midnight too," Marie responded with a grin.
