Remy finally finds out who's behind this entire operation.

It wasn't hard to know when Remy was angry. The entire office had heard him yelling in a mixture of languages over the phone more than a few times. However, in this case, the yelling seemed a little more intense and more forceful. Amanda's disappearance had touched them all, but the Cajun had been particularly closed about it. Now, the yelling stopped, only to be punctuated by a more obvious sign of anger.

Remy's interior office window exploded as Remy's chair came hurtling through it.

There was a beat, unexpected silence disturbed suddenly by the muffled chant of "rock, paper, scissors" and followed closely with the crunching of glass shards underfoot. Sofia casually appeared in the doorway, leaning against the frame with her arms crossed.

"In the future, a warning before you attempt to impale us all would not go unnoticed," she drawled, already pieces of the window in her eyeline making their way into his trash.

For once, Remy didn't have a glib comment. He was standing behind his desk, hands spread and down on the surface, knuckles gone white from the pressure. He looked up dully at where the woman stood.

"It's not Belladonna behind dis. It's a fucking ghost story dat I get her into."

The rainbows made on the wall shuddered once. "Qué?" Sofia asked sharply.

Remy shook his head before stalking out from behind the desk. "Candra. Bogeyman of de Guilds. Supposedly she's been around for three hundred years. But I never knew dat she was tied up wit' Selene before now."

Remy pulled a note from his pocket. "Arlen said dat dere's been movement from de bokor dat support her, and Belladonna been making her visits to de house."

"Wonderful." There was a vaguely irritated noise, before Sofia let her eyes trail back and forth, watching Remy pace. "I am growing very tired of this magic, voodoo nonsense, you realise. More so, when they're vaguely related to you."

"You not de only one." He rubbed his eyes tiredly. While it was the Selene cult that was behind all of this, Belladonna would have only gotten involved because she knew it was a way to get to him. That meant he was partially responsible. If Amanda didn't come back...

Remy pushed the thought away. He knew too well where that path would take him. "I can't even go to Tante 'bout dis. If she could help, she would have already contacted me. Merde, how did dey get to us so quickly?"

When Sofia smiled, it tended to have the opposite reaction that a smile might usually; it was a cutting remark without the use of words. "Quickly? She's hated you for years now, and you said this bad witch is three-hundred. You should be asking what took them so long." She sighed, masking the noise with a breeze against Remy's temples, and looked through the thin slits of the window blinds. "You're wasting time. Go figure out how to get her back."

Remy opened his mouth, and then paused and closed it. Sofia was right. He was being indulgent with his guilt and they didn't have that kind of time for it. He squared his shoulders and nodded. "You right. Merci, Sofia."

"De rien," she replied simply, pushing off from against the door. Sofia held his gaze a moment, lifting her chin a little. "Let me know if you need any help."
