Pure fluff. They touch base after spending a few months apart.

"...and so that's how Marie-Ange and Ah ended up fighting over Gar in a crowded club. Surprisingly, Ah think we're gonna get along better now. And now Ah have another one of those damn diaries. It's getting scanned into the computer, but Ah don't much feel like trying to analyze it. Not like the first one's been all that helpful." Marie's voice was surprisingly calm from where she was sprawled on the couch in her suite.

Logan was sprawled in her easy chair, boots kicked up and a cold beer in his hand. "Sounds like a helluva run, kid. Good that you and Frenchie patched things up." he said, lapsing into Amanda's pet-name for Marie-Ange. "More fun than I've been havin' lately, can say that much."

"And who's fault is that?" Marie asked as she reached to grab a beer of her own, a grin spreading over her face as she teased her friend. "You gotta get out more. You know, pick up a hobby...preferably one that involves interacting with other people."

Logan snorted. "Got one of those." he said. Admittedly, it was fighting, but still. Met all her criteria. "I interact with other people." he said, miming a punch to the head. "Nice, sharp interactions." he laughed. "Things have just been slow lately, that's all." he said defensively. Truth be told, he had itchy feet so bad he could hardly stand it. This was by _far_ and away the longest he could ever remember staying in one place. Not even his time with Alpha Flight was this bad - at least there he'd shuttle between Toronto and Montreal and Calgary and Ottawa.

"So they got you teachin' psych to the littles now?" he asked, fishing to confirm something he'd heard Scott talk about.

"Yeah, Ah asked and they said Ah could. 'course Ah gotta make sure Ah can handle it all first...am gonna try and get someone to help with the PE classes a bit. Don't want to turn into Nathan, y'know? Ah like having time for a private life and all that stuff." The truth was, she was a little nervous about teaching a class. PE was mostly fun and games, but the intro to psyc class was going to be much more structured and she wasn't sure she'd be good at it.

Logan could practically watch the doubts skitter their way across her brain. Just because he knew her. "Knock it off." he growled. "You'll do fine. You'll prep to within an inch of your life like you always do and things'll go well. This is what you want to do, what you're going to Geek School for." he said with a grin and a swallow of beer after.

"Hey, geek school is what comes later, if Ah decide to get a doctorate." Which Ah might. "But thanks for the confidence," she added, her voice a little softer. "You always believe in me."

"It's all Geek to me." he said with a laugh. Lame joke, but hey. "Yeah, well, you've earned it." he told her. "Besides, I'm a sucker for little girls who break into my truck to hitch a ride."

"Lucky for you girls aren't making a habit of it, or you'd be in big trouble," Marie continued teasing. "Ah mean, folks would start to think you'd gone soft. Then no one would be scared of ya and where would you be?"

"Have to just hit the road, find a new place where the little girls were ignorant, the beer was cold, and the locals ripe for losing their money and their women in fights." he said with a grin. "All the good stuff in life."

"Ew," was Marie's simple response as she threw a pillow at Logan's head.

Logan just casually swatted the pillow out of the air with his free hand. "Hey, it may not suit you but it sounds _great_ to me." he pointed out. "You? White picket fence, 2.2 kids, the whole deal. That's what you want." he said, his eyes challenging.

"What Ah want isn't necessarily what Ah can have," she said, her tone taking on a warning tone. It was obviously something they'd discussed before. "Plus, if Ah had the fence, you'd stop coming to visit. It'd be too civilized."

Logan laughed at that. "Bullshit. You'll find a way." he said. "The longer you keep this defeatest thing going, the longer it'll take. Don't your brain-geek books tell you that?" he asked. "If they don't, find new books that do."

You always think it's so simple. Like if Ah just flipped a switch, Ah'd be all better. Newsflash, there ain't no switch. Despite her thoughts, Marie just nodded at Logan's words. "Yeah, we'll see."

Logan wasn't going to back down this time. "Mean it. Will it be hard? Probably. Don't mean you should give up, wallow in your woe-is-me." he pointed out. "You will."

"Seriously, we need to change the subject now," Marie said, her voice firm. "Ah never said Ah was giving up, but it sure doesn't help to hear someone telling me to just get over it. It's not that simple."

Logan shrugged. "Sounded like it." he pointed out, then leaned back to take another swallow from his beer. "Maybe, for you, I'd hop a fence or two, come say hello. Have some of that boysenberry pie waitin'." he said with a grin.

"Oh, Ah'll have one waiting for you alright," she said, smiling again as she mimed throwing a pie at his face. "You might have to hold off on that for a bit though old man, Ah got my plate full enough with school, teaching and the team right now."

"I got nothin' but time, darlin'." he said calmly. "Nothin' at all."
