Finding some time to hunt Angelo down, Wanda brings bribes to help loosen his tongue about Nathan. It doesn't take much, really.
Coffee and donut--there was nothing better to bribe the people at the mansion with than food--Wanda knocked on the boathouse door, hoping that she'd come at a time when Nathan wasn't there. Time had gotten away from her and she'd forgotten to email Angelo back, so she decided that food might do the trick to get his tongue wagging.
Wagging more, anyway.
Food was always a good bribe when it came to Angelo, and she was in luck in more ways than one, as he opened the boathouse door and grinned a greeting. "Hey! Nathan's not workin' today." Something in his voice might imply it hadn't entirely been Nathan's choice.
She gave him a look as she handed over the food. "Did you attach weights to his clothing and make him take a walk in the lake?" Wanda asked as Angelo let her in. "Because, really, that might be a good way to make him stop working for a little while."
"Nah", Angelo said innocently. "You'd be amazed how effective a telekinetic toddler, a parrot swearin' in Italian an' a seventy-pound dog can be in persuadin' someone to do what you want."
"Well, do not ever let me say you are not inventive. And let's take full advantage of the empty office, shall we?" Wanda shook her own bag at Angelo for a second. "The drink may have to be reheated, I did bring it on the motorcycle, after all."
"You brought me a hot drink?" Angelo asked, bemused. "An' sure, there's a microwave in the kitchen... what else've you got in there?"
"If you really, really must know, the barrista messed up my order, so I ended up with two drinks. And then I remembered that you were looking to tell on Nathan, assuming he is being stupid once more, and viola. A cunning plan." Finding empty space, she put the bag of donuts down and opened it up. "And in here, a cornucopia of love. Or baked goods, rather."
"Coffee an' donuts", he said with a grin. "For that, I'd rat Nate out even if I hadn't already been plannin' on it."
Wanda pointed at Angelo and laughed, "I knew I liked you for a reason." Finding a chair, she settled into it, stretching her feet out in front of her. "Alright, my boy, spill."
Angelo took a deep breath, donut already in hand, and said straight out, "He's been goin' to see Trask. I think he's tryin' to talk her into changin' her ways, or somethin'."
"He's doing what now?" It was said calmly, almost sweetly. That was never a good sign.
"I tried t'get him not to", Angelo said helplessly. "Or take me with him, at least. But he won't."
"Really." Wanda glanced out the window and took a sip of her drink before turning back to Angelo. "Is he doing this on the campus or at her home? I think the answer will, actually, reflect on how much damage I will end up doing to Nathan."
"Columbia, he said", Angelo answered, knowing it didn't really mitigate things much. "I only know about the once for sure, but it didn't sound like he was plannin' to stop goin'."
"Bloody fantastic, of course he isn't. And it being on campus actually makes it worse considering he never told me about this and I work there. Did he say when the next time he was going to meet her was? Or has he been all Mr. Vague again?"
"Didn't tell me", Angelo said with a resigned shrug. "At a guess, 'cause he didn't want me followin' him and keepin' an eye on them. Wouldn't want to scare her off." The last came out with a bitter twist.
Wanda made a face. "I could only wish. She's here for at least another year, officially and not only in the creepy in your head way. I need to see what I can find out from my colleagues, though I think I will find out much more that I don't already know. I need to speak to Nathan about this, though."
"I thought you might", he said with a faint smile. "Why'd you think I chose you to rat him out to? Couldn't go to Moira, he made me promise, but he never said a word about anybody else."
"Smart man." She took a second to compose herself more, shifting around in her chair. "Well, not much we can do now, I suppose, until I figure out a good, solid way of confronting him about this. But trust me, I will and soon."
"Good. Just let me know when so I can make sure to be out of the way."
